Yeah, but I only get paid for hours I teach, and that has no impact on taxpayer anything.

VIT....
So I've had provisional registration for 4 years and I have to bite the bullet...
As a CRT (primary) I've thought the process was a bit hard to sort out.. so I've put it off..
any advice folks can give??
Anyone here teach VCE VET? If so, what are you thoughts on having to wait til January for VCAA to release assessment weightings....??
What is demand like for English and humanities teachers in Vic? Does being male make any difference?
Do many schools offer subjects like philosophy?
This time of year sucks for CRTs. No work and writing job applications and getting nowhere. Anyone else having any luck applying for jobs? I've applied for 60 jobs and had just one interview.
you're not doing it right if you've applied for 60 jobs and only got one interview. you need outside help.
not that I know anything about you or your situation. just a general observation.
yep potcrok, I'm in the same position
many advertised jobs arn't real jobs. Schools often have a person in mind, who might already be working in the position advertised.. however the department says they must openly advertise the job if the contract has expired... So, you need to call the school and ask ''is there an incumbent person in the position''... which is code for ''do you have someone lined-up already for this job''...
you can't ask ''is this a real job'' or ''do you have someone lined-up already for this job''... cos schools arnt supposed to tell you.. but you can ask if there's an incumbent.
The school might then indicate if you should apply for the position or not.
Yeah thanks Ben. I know that and it's a massive pain in the arse and I wish they would just give someone the job if they have a person lined up. Charlesincharge can you expand on what you mean by outside help. I have had my resume, selection criteria and application letter gone over by 2 principals and a literacy coach. I've done school visits too and I have worked full time last year before doing CRT this year as well as some part time work.
Any teachers want to say how they got their job. Applying at the moment and it's a nightmare. Any suggestions about what to put in a resume? Also how to get your foot in the door for an interview?
I'd like to hear this advice also
Show some knowledge of current curriculum practices. I interviewed a teacher last year and asked him what his thoughts on the National Curriculum were. His response was; 'I'm ambivalent''. Needless to say, he didn't get the job.
If you're an English teacher, rest assured you'll be asked what books you're reading at the moment. Don't respond with Stig Larsson, Twighlight, or, my favourite, ''Oh, I don't read a lot''
Even if you've only ever taught during teaching round, have an anecdote ready about a time when you demonstrated a differentiated learning approach. Make it up if you have to.
IT BEGINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
are you CRTing this year again eucalyptus?
Yeah, but I've already been booked for the first couple of weeks... lucked out.
You?
nice work.
Yeah.. CRT to begin with.. but I may keep eyes open for a position... if I can only make my application attractive enough to get a foot in the door
Just got offered 2 weeks work teaching music at a special school! yay!
Do you guys teach primary or secondary?
formatting fail.
Secondary mainly.
my 2 week offer turned into a first term offer... then today they're offering the first semester!
eeek!
Im not used to working 5 days a week
