That looks very nice - what is it?
I dream of owning an Orange - unfortunately I own a Peavey :(
it's an ashdown peacemaker. They're better known for their bass amps but they did foray into making some class a tube amps, the most recognisable being the Fallen angel stack (a bit new metally for me)
and speaking of orange, i'm looking at buying an orange 4x12 to run it through
(That should be followed by an "if only".)
There's an Orange amp in the musicswopshop.
I've no idea how it sounds but I want to buy it because it just looks so damn cool.
they sound cock-tastically amazing as well, mipearson. pricey, but worth it.
my custom jobbie can nail the orange sound, through the right speakers.

Haha, I put that in there yesterday mispearson! Buy it already!
that looks interesting, ron... what is it?
It's a Fi-Sonic! Sydney-made '60s QUALITY.
Hit: Nah, this was a couple of weeks ago!
And by "quality", I mean "shit". But good shit.
nice..I got a glow on when I saw the 'Cool' thread title..thanks reverb89.
i want one of these
anyone wanna lend me $3500?
The now discontinued Fender Stage 160. The loudest fucking amp ever.
I know you purists will hate me, but plug my guitar into a Line 6 pod, then the pod into that amp and bang, you have an uber hot tube sound.
My most beloved is currently in the capable, repairing hands of kandos.
Behold!

Is that a ruby riot, nicko?
Freaking nice man! I want one too.

That Deluxe Reverb would be an awesome option for your price range, Spaceman. You can swap out the stock speaker down the track too.
No affiliation with Musicalsnob at all, by the way. Though probably would have bought the Deluxe Reverb myself if I hadn't bought a Super Reverb at the end of last year.
Thanks for the endorsement, mate! Yes, t'is a great amp. Only selling due to lack of cash for car repairs too!
Easier to drag around than a 4 x 10 too!
I wish this was in Sydney (Deluxe Reverb).
I have a Fender Tweed Deville 2*12 that I love the sound of but I really don't need the volume, or weight of. Want to get something that sounds exactly the same but 1*12. According to the fender website the deluxe reverb doesn't have a drive channel just a vibrato channel? I've played a few hot rod deluxes and they have a lot harsher sound than mine. The 57 deluxe is only 12 watts which seems a bit weird for a stage/recording amp.
Any recommendations for a 1* 12 amp that is loud enough to use on stage in a non-loud band, I can carry with one arm and has a warm drive channel?
Ahh it's the blues deluxe I want.
Spaceman1 I think this amp would suite you too (The Blues Deluxe). It's based on a slightly older model than the Hot Rod Deville so it has a warmer sound and less hypo/more obedient drive channel and a good clean sound and beautiful thick reverb.*
* I'm assuming this because that it what the Blues Deville that I have is like compared to the Hot Rod Deville.
Thanks for the suggestion. i've looked it up on youtube, and I was in Allans today but they didn't have one.
For now I'm torn between the AC15 C1 or the Fender Deluxe Reverb. I played them both at length today and no closer to knowing which I'd prefer. They're both great options for different reasons.
The AC15 is really cheap at around $800 RRP and comes with a Celestion Greenback speaker as standard. Is the greenback considered far superior to the standard Jensen C12 K's in the Fender DR?
The Vox seems more verstatile, more tonal range. Price is incredible compared to the Fender. Nice reverb and tremolo sounds. A little bit of grunt on top of the clean tone. It would be nice if there were a separate channel for the tremolo or for drive or something. Maybe it takes some playing around? Foot switch isn't included apparently.
The Deluxe Reverb hands down has the better clean and reverb tone of the two. Crystal clear, nice and loud. The reverb's a lot more pronounced here than on the Vox, just beautiful. But then it doesn't sound like it has any distortion to it. It doesn't sound like you get such a wide variety of tones as you can on the Vox. It's a beautiful clean and that's it. And RRP is just over $2000, so a lot more expensive.
So, help me - which is the 'better' amp? is my assessment of the two correct? I don't know much about amps, I've only ever owned a piece of shit. Is the price difference due to the Fender being made in USA (don't know that for sure) and the Vox in China? Does it matter?
Question #2: What's the difference between Greenbacks and Alnico Blue speakers? I've noticed that AC15 comes with the Greenback at $800 or with the Alnico Blue for about $1200. Worth the difference?

i swopped a newer (2002) AC30 for a deluxe reverb and am way happier, but it was still a great amp. it was too big, i wanted a spring verb, and it was never quite clean enough

So would you say it's better to have the amp that delivers the better clean & reverb sound, and then just add pedals if you want distortion?
lots of Hiwatts on stage at Noel Gallagher last night - and a white Vox AC30. Noel also has a little black Fender Pro Junior sitting on top of the Hiwatts too.
people argue that the new/reissue models of both of these are not as good as old ones.
I have old and new greenbacks, and the old ones do sound way better - but they have the advantage of being worn in for years & years which is like any speaker. I used to have Vintage30s & i found the greenbacks much much nicer.
I have new (well, 2007) Alnico Blues in my Vox and they sound amazing - but that's also likely to be the different amp's sound coming through too so it's hard to really judge!

This has just been relisted. Going for $375AU. Almost half the price of shipping it to Oz. Wah!
Could you use a vox 15 on stage with a reasonably quiet band?
yes
What about less than reasonably quiet? I used a vox ages ago in a recording and it sounded good but I always thought they were really expensive. I should go to one of those big chains and try stuff then look for it second hand.
My brother uses an AC15 in our reasonably loud band and it's a little hard to hear in some situations but sounds great and wasn't all that expensive. Under a grand. The newest ones sound really good IMO. I use the last of the British AC30s.
