and to make things even wierder. after my disco was over i heard some deep clanging noise and noticed some guy trying to break a bottle underneath a table.
I saw this... freaky
they definitely didn't over react - i think that's my point
I wasn't at this gig, so don't take any of what I say in the context of it -- but I agree with the point you're trying to raise, Ev. I mean, for all its talk of anarchy and freedom and personal expression, rock is as ritualistic as any other cultural practice around. It really is sort of surprising that people are generally so 'well-behaved' when you've given them (sometimes crazy amounts of) alcohol and stuck them in a room with loud music and a couple of hundred other drunk people. So I guess I'm saying that I too somewhat fancy the idea of people acting out of the ordinary.
I know I'm going to cop shit so I'll repeat this: wasn't at the show; this comment has nothing to do with it specifically.
Well, you know, there is good and bad in everyone, and we must learn to live as we learn to give each other what we need to survive together alive. And make mine a double.
I thought Mum Smokes were awesome btw especially dug JKF's keyboard bits.
i thought the audience was a bit off in pieces on the night... how could you not respect a band like My Disco with all they've done and accomplished, entirely on their own?! Geez people shit me. I wouldn't have reacted so well. And to think, I thought Liam walked offstage to change a bass string... (I was up the back). Instead of busting balls he could have just kicked this girl in the cunt! ha
the person everyone's talking about is a friend of (to my knowledge, all of) the bands, BTW.
I think this is getting blown out of proportion a little.
go on......... go and turn of-frail.................. rip up fucker............rip up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no harm no fail................... and shit,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,word.............
My Disco lyrics?
what you tolkien about hwct?
switchy, probably... meh... I don't know/care either way.. just going off what Punch said, and she works there, so thought she'd be privy to shit I ain't, etc.
It's definately getting blown out of proportion. But that's what happens. Obviously there's some real respect here for My Disco. I mean, would this conversation be going this way if they'd had a laugh with her instead of getting annoyed? I imagine you'd all be talking about the crazy whacky funny drunk girl who got on stage.
By the way I also thought My Disco played an excellent set despite interruptions! It never ceases to amaze me that in all the years I've been enjoying their live shows they're never bored me. In fact I think I enjoy them more and more. The Stabs were great too, and Hi God People. I was really bummed that I missed Mum Smokes, but should have checked what time the gig started I guess.
my disco have that special something... they're just really fucking good at what they do. it's in the sound, their musicianship, what they play - as well as what they DON'T play, and they're just tight as a nun. I feel good when watching them.
Tight as a nun? eegads.
tight as nun and followed with "i feel good when watching them"
hmmm
Hmmmm... heh, pretty sure I know who the 'offender' is, and I sure as hell wouldn't be picking any fights with her! I think most bands (including My Disco) aren't so thin-skinned as to be truly offended by a bit of heckling / piss-taking, anyway.
But then I didn't witness any of this, being way back in the crowd during My Disco's set. Like others, I presumed a broken string...
Heay kids,
Guys and dolls, I am just now made aware of the kaffuffle surrounding the "girl who should have known better" or the girl who is a "friend of people that should have known better." Or better still, "the girl who is a friend of a friend of a band who should have known not such friends. Yes "That Girl", Now, I am definately from a different generation here, but FUCK ME, once upon a time (oh yeah, the good ol'e days), if some bitch sat on the stage and fell/pretended to fall asleep at a gig, well, one of two things would happen.
Number 1. A band member (usually some dude with a guitar, nicely weighted, (refer to East Bay Ray/"Big" John Duncan and even Kieth Richards was known to "take a swing' at the occasional excited fan) would casually smack/punch/hit or kick that bitch back to where she came from, ie : the crowd. And......... the show would go on.
Number 2. The crowd would simply devour her, therefore negating any need to purchase a souvlaki on the way home. And.......... the show would go on.
Okay, so I guess what I am trying to say here is, that this is rock and roll folks, and stuff does happen, we drink piss, we fuck up, we fall down. Christ, if we want peace, harmony and good manners, have a cup of tea with your nanna. (my nanny makes a great cuppa) In the meantime, dont rue the moment lost, when next you find yourself at a gig with some bitch/bastard/prick/motherfucker in the way, yell, scream and kick till the cunt moves on. If nothing else, you will feel so much better for it. dont get soft, rock n roll!
hahaha great call, rusty.
**tight as nun and followed with "i feel good when watching them"
hmmm**
yep... :)
you know what I mean... I will hold back on any urge here to add something dirty
Jesus what a storm in a teacup.
tonight in perf. should be a goodun.
