htrk - marry me tonight

anok  said about 4 years ago  or at  6:36PM on Tuesday, February 20 2007 in music

figured i'd start a thread in anticipation of this. release was slated for feb, but it seems that's been scratched for now. fire records are putting nostalgia out o/s, though. there are samples there and another track from the new album up at their myspace.

HTRK's debut 'Nostaligia' is scheduled for UK release on April 30 through http://www.firerecords.com, once home to familiar names Spaceman 3, Pulp, Built to Spill, Half Japanese etc, etc. So with that release imminenet it's not likely that 'Marry Me Tonight' will be available until later in 2007. Who is releasing it has yet to be announced.

Bought the Eat Yr Heart vinyl 12''. Hopefully that's indicative of the sound of the whole album because it sounds excellent.

NME review

bit sad that the only points of reference they could come up with were radiohead and trent reznor...

FrankieTeardrop  said about 5 months ago:

Though HTRK’s second full-length proper was completed shortly after the tragic death of founding member Sean Stewart last year, its bleak soundscapes were imagined between 2006 and 2010. Continuing a penchant for darkness established on 2009’s ‘Marry Me Tonight’, ‘Work (Work, Work)’ is probably as grim a sounding record as you’re likely to hear. The sparse, nauseous swirls of ‘Love Triangle’ make ‘Kid A’ sound like an album totally in love with the world, while ‘Slo Glo’ is The xx brutalising Trent Reznor; lyrically, subject matter includes poison, electrocution, bullets, eating hearts, and smothering. Not the feel-good hit of the summer, then.

Oh dear. That really must rate as one of the most pathetic reviews ever.

bungle  said about 5 months ago:

I think the average NME reader/writer can only deal with bands that have had releases in the last 12 months.

bungle  said about 5 months ago:

deal with REFERENCING bands that have had releases in the last 12 months, is what I mean
