New Timbaland album

danielz  said about 1 year ago  or at  11:04AM on Thursday, February 15 2007.

Timbaland's second album is out soon. It's called Shock Value. It features collaborations with Bjork, Snoop, Elton John, Fall Out Boy and The Hives.

Pitchfork have already wet themselves, claiming the Nelly Furtado collaboration exhibits, "a talent immune to formula, a miracle of bankable avant-gardism."

then again, they'd say that.

didn't he just rip it all off some amiga programmer

anonymous  said about 1 year ago:

nah, this time its all the c64 last ninja soundtrack.

is that about furtado or timbaland??

if it's furtado that's the most hilarious thing every written

danielz  said about 1 year ago:

i assume it's about timbaland, or the collaboration in general. JT was involved as well, i think.

Thank goodness we have people like Aziz Ansari to take the piss out of those pompous gits at Pitchfork.

anonymous  said about 1 year ago:

i guess they don't count the timbaland and magoo records as timbaland records?

webrokethefan  said about 1 year ago:

I've heard the track featuring The Hives... can't say I'm impressed. He should really just stick to being on everyone elses' albums.

anonymous  said about 1 year ago:

leaked yesterday.

anonymous  said about 1 year ago:

oh, and in gmail.

you can thank me later.

esquared  said about 1 year ago:

a few great tracks and some filler.

JScales  said about 1 year ago:

the great tracks win 2007 though.

esquared  said about 1 year ago:

i got love for you j.... but you're crazy. we still got 2/3 left of 2007, and there's no beats on this as hot as timbaland's best.

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

hmmm, this is interesting. e2 is right though, i dont think it quite reaches his best.

drugshakehands  said about 7 months ago:

so he's touring australia, i wonder what his live show would be like?

Really? I reckoned it'd be shit, but verging on interesting at times.

drugshakehands  said about 7 months ago:

i'm thinking it could be good, depending on what kind of band and guest vocalists he brought with him. if it's under $100, i'll go see it.

whole-lotta-rosie  said about 7 months ago:

i'm confused about this tour. the only places that mention it are the video hits website and yourgigs.com.au.

there hasn't been a press release from universal and there is no mention it on any of the main tour promoter's websites. hmmm...

the power of 666  said about 7 months ago:

Show will be rubbish and you'll feel robbed. Dudes like this tour for the cash & blow not the show.

whole-lotta-rosie  said about 7 months ago:

what makes you say that? I reckon it would be good.

the power of 666  said about 7 months ago:

Ummm, the entire history of commercial hip hop and R&B artists touring australia.

whole-lotta-rosie  said about 7 months ago:

errr, did you see kanye?

goldslip  said about 7 months ago:

i reckon it could be decent, he'll have some live singing and other live instruments amongst the beats i'm guessing

the power of 666  said about 7 months ago:

i'd rather eat a flock of bees dicks than see kanye.

If missy's tour was a total letdown, Timba wouldn't be any better.

trueschoolalumni  said about 7 months ago:

Nice generalisation 666! Kanye and Jay-Z have both put on eye-wateringly good shows in the last few years. Hell, even Timberlake put on a good show, and he's only vaguely 'urban'. Yeah, most hip hoppers are studio beasts, but some make the effort. No need to sip haterade on all that come this way...

the power of 666  said about 7 months ago:

Well the odds are that a hip hop / r&b show will be a bit disappointing. Timberlake is a force unto himself, just knowing what sort of dude Timbaland is, which is a studio juggernaut, and the cost to bring any form of show to here, I just wouldn't hold my breath.

And odds are that this show is totally bogus anyway.

the power of 666  said about 7 months ago:

and Jay Z is a fucking amazing rapper & performer, no contest. Fade to Black is amazing, pity he came back and pissed on his legacy a bit though. Kanye may have a great show, but I just don't like his music.

whole-lotta-rosie  said about 7 months ago:

the kanye tour is being hailed as one of the best live shows ever! whatever...

anyway, i think timbaland would definitely put on a decent show. and nelly furtado is performing with him as well and, in my opinion, her last album was one of the best pop records to come out in the last few years.

that said, i have been to some terrible ''urban'' shows. LL cool J came onstage 2 hours late and was really bad.

drugshakehands  said about 7 months ago:

i don't know if one of the budget promoters could afford to bring him out, more details would be nice.

hey come on, american gangster is pretty solid.

i can picture timbaland's show just being his band playing instrumentals of his songs while generic backing singers do nelly/JT's verses, and timbaland jumps around the stage shouting ''YEP! TAKE IT TO THE BRIDGE!''

but if nelly furtado is performing with him, it could be good. don't understand why it wouldn't be billed as her tour, or a joint tour, though...

whole-lotta-rosie  said about 7 months ago:

fyi - my people tell me the tour is happening for sure, but hasn't been officially announced yet.

whole-lotta-rosie  said about 7 months ago:

p.s 666 - american gangster was awesome.

it's probably not being billed as her tour because she hasn't put anything out in 2 years. but who knows.

the power of 666  said about 7 months ago:

Yeah, but it's no Black Album.

Why wouldn't you think a Timbaland tour would be him rapping with Magoo? That's what i'd imagine it is, with some hits somehow lodged in between. SOME of that Timba solo shit is awesome, but a good slab of it is godawful. If he toured with Timbalake & Missy for $100 a ticket, i'll be front and centre.

the power of 666  said about 7 months ago:

Kingdom Come was a block of shit though...

the power of 666  said about 7 months ago:

''When I saw the movie, the way Denzel portrayed the character, you know, we never seen a black guy ascend this high in a movie before, to being over the mob. So immediately that struck with me. Like, the success of it all. [...] I took that emotion and pulled it into my song. So it's my own movie. I call it an indie film now – that's my new shit. It's the indie-film version of American Gangster.''

Indie film? Huh?

tour postponed due to poor ticket sales
