THE DRONES
Sat 31st March @ Corner Hotel
$20+BF
Hot on the heels of the news that The Drones - for the second year in a row- have made the short list of artists nominated for the Australian Music Prize for their latest album ‘Gala Mill’, the band announce their March shows. The Drones will be kicking off their final round of east coast shows in March before heading back overseas for a worldwide tour across the UK, Europe and the States. There couldn’t be a better time to catch The Drones live. Following witnessing The Drones live in action on The Big Day Out tour, the Sydney Morning Heralds’ Bernard Zuel commented “for sheer quality and excitement, this was the best performance of the day”.To make the shows even more memorable, The Drones will be supported by dark and brooding French rockers ‘DIMI DERO INC’ on their first ever Australian tour.
Guests: Dimi dero inc (Paris), Shooting at Unarmed Men, Silver Ray & Electra Jean (Paris)

anyone heard this dimi dero inc?

Oui. Pretty angsty, twisted blues with some Scientists rumble, repetition and drone.
Album is out now on Off th e Hip.

Dimi Dero Inc two-piece spin-off.

Anyone know what the deal was with the Bankstown Boys at the Drones at the 'dale?
Odd vibe, fer sure.
> the Bankstown Boys at the Drones at the 'dale?
What?
Whole bunch of kinda-sorta homies, sitting side-of-stage for a bunch of time, making a big circle in the front bar... was a bit bizarre. Like I say, a weird vibe. Made a couple of people edgy on the way to the bogs, anyway.
oh i saw those dude up against the side wall at front. i just thought it was either security (why?) or dickheads (again why?)
I picked that up as well..
Fuckin' good gig though. It seemed short too, but they played for over an hour...
I agree, JohnnyV: fucking great set. Cockeyed Lowlife was fucking incredible. So much more power than when I've seen 'em previously - good stuff!
Dimi Dero were awesome, too. Beasts tunes with Gallic accents!
Anyone else going to the Corner this weekend?
Sixfthick on Friday, Drones on Saturday, fuck, my tinnitus will be giving me grief all next week.
The Drones were absolutely terrible live. I've decided to only see them during the day when they've not had a chance to drink the place dry before going on stage. The term 'self indulgent wankers' comes to mind. They were pretty funny though - however I didn't pay $20 to see a comedy show. I spent about 10 minutes of the set in the front bar watching some chicks play pool - that was more entertaining than The Drones.
The Drones are like girlfriends. Most of the time they're awesome, and you love them to death - other times you just wish they'd shut the fuck up and stop embarrassing you in front of your friends.
i saw 'em up in belgrave the night before, and they were awsome. on one the best shows i 've ever seen. the only drunk and obnoxious behavious was in the crowd. people almost falling over and spewin' before the first support had finished.
Interesting comments there David...considering i was actually backstage before said gig and can safely say that each 'Drone' had around...oh ....TWO drinks before going onstage. I'm quite perplexed...'self indulgent wankers'... and yet...'pretty funny ' ?
But i AM happy that you got to perve on some chicks in the front bar for a while.... man, glad i ain't your girlfriend.
From what i've heard, from the people I know who were at the Corner show, it was awesome.
Which show was that, David?
I was at the Corner briefly, for entirely different reasons, and there where no signs of them pissing it up before the show.
Demi Dero were great, from what I saw, though a bit nervous when they heard 600 advance tickets had been sold.
i was at the drones gig and bloody loved it, thought they put in an amazing set, same goes for SAUM. are you sure you were paying attention David?
Dimi Dero, however, can fuck right off.
What size did the t-shirts come in?
GOF: Well if they weren't pissed, I'm now at a lose to explain why they were so fucking shite.
And watch your fucking mouth - if you were my girlfriend I'd give you a fucking back hander for talking back that's for sure.
