I'M GONNA SEE THEM!

anok  said about 1 year ago:

when?

it really shat me when they used that thin red line sample in one of their songs. i never got over it.

michael_horse  said about 1 year ago:

coachella, end of april

KillerKitty  said about 1 year ago:

the last track on the new album "so long lonesome" is so beautiful.

When the drums kick in at the end in nearly brings me to tears everytime I hear it.

anok - you don't have to love them, but they will always remind me of this time in my life when i had just bought the second album and i went on a little day trip to burntisland just north of edinburgh and walked around with this amazing album playing on my discman while i looked out at the great grey ocean and watched the seabirds swirling and tottering about

i needed that day and i loved that record

and then a few days later i saw them live in glasgow

... hence whosgotthecrack? + explosionsinthesky = love

nicko_mcbrain  said about 1 year ago:

i love them, wgtc - your hand in mine, first breath after coma, the only moment we were alone all are mind-blowingly beautiful. to me, they're like a more obvious mogwai.

but then sometimes i don't want that heavy scots malaise hanging over everything.

i almost saw 'friday night lights' just to hear the soundtrack...

switchbladesisters  said about 1 year ago:

gave my copy to infinland... he loves this stuff.

whosgotthecrack?  said about 1 year ago:

have you got the first album nicko?

I loved that as well...

i have got to get the new album soon

adamdmills  said about 1 year ago:

i used to love them. now i'm not so sure.

i'm quite keen to hear the new album.

beertickle  said about 1 year ago:

i found them rather boring and unimaginative live. i prefer them on cd.

adamdmills  said about 1 year ago:

those who tell the truth... is beautiful. the earth... lost its sheen after some time.

switchbladesisters  said about 1 year ago:

I would've given it to you if I'd known, WGTC!

hiponion  said about 1 year ago:

switchy - giver of great albums.

whosgotthecrack?  said about 1 year ago:

adam - track three on the newie is pretty bloody good

classic explosions

aww switchie, that's okay, you can give it to me for my birthday! ;) hehe

how was eluvium?

Nabila  said about 8 months ago:

d'oh!

russiancaravan  said about 8 months ago:

Only got there for EITS, unfortunately, sveltes. Sad, because I've heard great things. But I was at home working (and half-heartedly watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with my sister) until 10.30 cos I have a big deadline this week.

Snake  said about 8 months ago:

Eluvium was great. Good build up for EITS.

ladyinred  said about 8 months ago:

:(... it was good. :(

grumbles

ProDelgado  said about 8 months ago:

So why the :-( ?

ladyinred  said about 8 months ago:

because i wasn't there... i just read that it as good... I was hoping it wasn't good so i knew i didn't miss anything special.

wanders off to play Audiosurf

Lucky kids...

KillerKitty  said about 8 months ago:

sadly explosions didn't do it for me.

I guess I connect more to listening to the albums then seeing it live.

shame really cause I love them heaps.

somethings wrong with me as I felt the same when I saw arcade fire the other week to

nicko_mcbrain  said about 8 months ago:

i don't know, KK - i sort of get what you mean...

like, i think i enjoyed it so much because i was in the mood to just be pummelled by awesome waves of sound. a lot of that sprawling so-called 'post rock' doesn't seem like a good live prospect to me - that's why i didn't go to Mono - as you can't really dance to it, and a lot of it's slow and ambient, and quite quiet at times. i could hear fuckheads talking over them in a lot of the dropped bits, but couldn't hear me own brain in the loud bits.

they are probably more of a 'listening to the album on an epic system' kind of band, but in the right mood, that stuff is great live, and last night was tits.

ps. forgot to say before - best live bass guitar sound i've ever heard (for a room of that size).

nyx  said about 2 months ago:

I heart All of A Sudden I Miss Everybone so much at the moment. Though I am entirely convinced this band would really bore me live.

anok  said about 2 months ago:

pretty much the most boring band i've ever seen/heard live. they really seem like they feel the epic post-rock hard, man. owning the stage like apes with guitars.

nyx  said about 2 months ago:

ha, I knew it! I still like the album though.

trafficsounds  said 16 days ago:

friday night lights was made 90% more enjoyable by the eits soundtrack. it made total sense, the expansiveness perfectly describes the great plains of texas. they make a terrific scoring band, you gotta give that to them.

jimib  said 16 days ago:

i thought eits live were awesome.

tell the sweaty, shirtless guy speeding off his head you dance to Mono... geez that guy was annoying

hiponion  said 16 days ago:

fuck, eits were great live

kazpatafta  said 16 days ago:

That is true Traffic. I found EITS really really boring live and never liked them on record but definitely a big reason I enjoy FNL. Somehow doesn't come across as cheesey and obvious like I would have expected

kazpatafta  said 16 days ago:

elaine  said 16 days ago:

I am listening RIGHT NOW to All of a sudden i miss everyone.

It is gladdening my heart.

trafficsounds  said 15 days ago:

i've just come across the self-titled album for this band calm blue sea and they're like explosions-gone-piano. but good stuff anyway, soaring for sure. makes sense though, they too are from austin and i'm guessing like a lot of other younger bands from the town (this will destroy you etc) are heavily influenced by eits.
