Shame what became of this band. I really used to love their proper 2 albums. Bit hard to listen to now. I even enjoyed a little bit of kettle whistle.
At least Eric Avery knew to stay clear of the nonsense from the late nineties and beyond..
I own that rotten movie of perry farrell's: Gift.

hmmm
i choose to ignore anything after the broke up in late '91. Fuck their show at the Horden was incredible.
Yes Gift stank. I was not at all upset that an ex stole it
great band.
can't really endorse the 'strays' era, but the show they played at the enmore in '03 was mindblowingly good.
really recommend avery and navarro's post-Jane's "deconstruction" album. probably something of an unfashionable sound but excellent ideas and great lyrics.
Strays, whilst not on par with Ritual, was a thoroughly enjoyable and rocking album
Plus the show were great, though pity Avery wasn't there.
3 proper albums, triple x one was first before the warner years
deconstruction is excellent, avery's post post Polarbear is also very worthy
Avery was the one who wrote all the bass grooves. Word was, that he was pretty crap at constructing songs around them.
The other word on the street is that Perry was the biggest prick to Avery - much more than the others.
I liked Nothing's Shocking, Ritual was the big hit one, right?
I liek the themesong from Entourage, but that's just cause I like the show.
My understanding is that Avery slept with Perry's GF, thus causing a bit of a schism within the band.
"Obvious" was written about this situation, apparently.
...and incidentally, isn't it a shame that Dave Navarro has ascended to being The Most Woefully Embarassing Person On The Planet?
i loved nothing's shocking - nearly every track rock rock ROCKS. and 'three days' off ritual, holy crap... three freakin' lead breaks. coming out of being a metalhead and 'discovering' alt rock, janes were the perfect segue for me.
i went out with a boy who played all navarro parts, same guitar and set up. hmmmmmm
Slept with Casey?
Oh well, that would do it.
I remember the 91 shows at the Metro. Avery not looking at anybody else in the band. Navarro telling people to stop 'fucking with him because he came to play for us' . Perry telling us that we were more than welcome to fuck with him.
It was like watching a train wreck.
But shit was it a great gig!!!
hmm
I used to love em,
Can't put em on now days.
Way to end of the 80's cock rock for me.
Ocean Size is good.
I liked Strays when it came out.
There is a really good riff on one of the songs.
Can't remember it, but it's very Gun's'n'roses.
oh phil.
i lived w perry farrel in mexico . it was good.
What?
it was in the ninties.
it was pretty wack
i still listen to los habitual a few times every year. Great album.
I saw them at the Metro in 91. I thought it stank.

that's pretty amazing footage in which to (almost) feature, lax
i was probably a row or two behind the guy filming and a bit squarer on avery - it was fucking massive - really looking forward to the moshcam dudes' footage being cut together
It's not a bad place to watch bands from although you miss all that cool shit going on at the back of the stage. I kind of had to stay there though for stuff we did throughout the show.
fallout from this is gonna be interesting, i guess - would love to hear the songs (or even fragments) they worked on with reznor, that new version of whores is killer, such a damn shame they couldn't keep it together
Well we are very, very lucky Eric Avery stuck around long enough to tour Oz.
And we got Summertime Rolls at Melb Soundwave! (interesting to see Avery hiding behind his amp when it was just him and Perry left on stage at the end of the song...)
excellent, good work!
any other ''surprise'' songs?
from the sound of the above ''i would for you'' is out of the question...
Na, no other 'surprise songs' - they did it in place of 'then she did'.
I was pretty fucking happy as it seemed they weren't altering their set lists at all!
yep, if i had to choose it's probably my favourite avery bassline so that would've been a real treat
I would have been spewin' Then She Did is probably my favourite Jane's Addiction song.
I would for you....swoooon. That would be my favourite
But they played then she did at the sideshow. Best of both worlds.
Dave confirmed via twitter that Eric has left the band.
a diabolically shit live version of whole lotta love with duff on bass
excuse me while i nip out and shoot myself in the head
Why are they doing this....
I don't even want to listen to that.
why not wash away that nasty taste with full pro video of their enmore theatre show?
many thanks to you, moshcam people
seeya duff

Hmmm...yeah. I dunno. Sounds like them. I'm having trouble going back to a Janes Addiction minus Eric Avery. Seeing WAS believing. He is the only man for the job.
Fascinating, long Skype interview with Eric Avery about pretty much the entire history of Jane's..here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhRXNkattes
This is only the part that concerns the Soundwave 2010 tour, but from what he's saying, he'd decided long before that point to quit. That video is part 16..
Part one is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXaF6PS9ALI
He's really well spoken and seems like a great guy. I'll get around to watching this entire video sometime soon.
possibly best gig i've ever been to.
amazing
the avery videos are back up by the way niteshok
