Grand! Last time I caught him was in Brisbane upstairs at Rics.. fantastic set.. and he got laid thereby nearly missing his plane.
Fucking awesome! I'm looking forward to this.

My way of saying

devotion and doubt is up there in my "all time favourite" records pile
hugs Marcus
Devotion + Doubt is the only album of his that I own, but I love it - and I've heard some live recordings that are ab-so-fuckin-lutely phenomenal.
I'll be at this with bells on! Anyone know yet when the Sydney gig is?

My favorite album is still The Hill.. beautiful concept, stunning artwork, sweet as fuck sounds. Impasse comes in a close second. Can someone bump this when tickets go on sale please :] Or actually I should stop being a lazy arse and use my calender..
This is on my birthday here. Superb.
I prefer Damien Jurado to Richard Buckner (I deem them similar)... but as it doesn't look like Jurado is gonna be touring anytime soon, i'm definitely happy to settle for Buckner. He's great.
Yet again you disgust me Blake.
aw fuck, I hate the Basement.
Yet again you disgust me Blake.
Bah!
Jurado is excellent.

with special guest J Walker
Australian Tour April 2007
Richard Buckner & Edith Frost, undoubtedly two of the world's finest contemporary singer-songwriters, are coming to Australia this April to play what will be a series of very special double headline shows.
Buckner has just released his 8th album, Meadow, marking the latest chapter that began in San Francisco in the early 90s & has seen Buckner chase his muse throughout the world many times over. In true Buckner style Meadow delves into the restless energy of the heart, themes of motion vs stillness, all soaring & swelling around Buckner's signature trifecta of enigmatic poetics, swirling melodies, & that voice - oh that voice! - a soothing drawl that's somehow haunting & calming at the same time. With a live show that often sees Buckner wantonly deconstruct & then magnificently rebuild his songs, & that incredible voice which seems to take on a whole other dimension in the live setting, Richard Buckner is an artist not to be missed in his own right.
But when teamed on a bill with someone of the calibre of Edith Frost you know you are guaranteed for something unforgettable. Frost has been called both a chantuese & a country torch singer - but Edith's style of writing, singing & playing is all that & more. Her spin on "country" has many roots - folk, blues, tin-pan alley & jazz - making the eclectic nature of her music a natural thing. "Edith Frost gives new hope for those seeking that kind of introspective, country-tinged singer-songwriter stuff but who're bored to tears with the way it sounds. Over the course of a few generally excellent Drag City albums, Frost has taken the form and given it goose..." (John Payne, LA Weekly).
Joining Richard Buckner & Edith Frost on all east coast shows is the skewed pop genius of J Walker (Machine Translations).

Edith Frost "It's A Game" out now on Drag City/Spunk.
J. Walker hey, nice! Haven't seen Machine Translations in years admittedly. Have a feeling I may be gracing the front bar for the Frost set.. just isn't grabbing me.

Woo!
This and the new War on Drugs album are all i've been wanting to hear lately.
How did I miss this? Someone should get these guys out for every festival ever. They're perfect Saturday afternoon listening.
It's awesome! Almost as good as this years Kurt Vile album.
So the new album is pretty alright.
Awesome album. Up there with his 90s trilogy I reckon.
Audio no longer available.
Booo!
Fuckn!!!!
It's for sale now... and also easily illegally downloadable.
I know... I'm a bit slow.
Buckner in murder investigation
It's a little bit old I know, but I hadn't encountered it till today.
Oh, and the new album is supreme.
Didn't know about either the album or the murder investigation so cheers for the heads up! Interesting n' weird.
Anyone else a fan of his album The Hill? C-l-a-s-s-i-c
The Hill is an utter masterpiece. The release poster from Spunk records is pretty much the first thing I see when I wake up on the morning.
I might put it on right now actually!
The Hill is probably my favourite. Some amazing moments.
Any news at all on him touring this way again Blake?
Not that i've seen, but i'm keeping my eyes peeled! I saw something about him doing his first UK shows in many years, so hopefully he's up for another long trip.
crosses fingers and toes
Just saw him in August in Seattle while on holiday, he was amazing. His new album is as brilliant as his older stuff, still love Devotion + Doubt above all else. Hoping like hell he'll do a show in Sydney soon... Fingers and toes crossed as well.
