I know it's ten months late, but I second the Paul love! What a guy.
I Panel of Judges, Beaches and Love of Diagrams do a big release show together because it looks like they will all have new albums ready at the same time.
the last record rules.
I ''hope'' Panel of Judges...
The inimitably hep Panel of Judges have made the modest masterpiece of their 10 year career. Bad Vibrations (release date: Nov 15) crystallises everything that is great about these beloved bastions of the Melbourne underground: restless imagination, lazily catchy melodies, epic rhythms, and heavenly riffs.
Panel of Judges (or Panel as they are affectionately known) are Dion Nania, Alison Bolger and Paul Williams, a trio who have blazed a quietly confident trail through the international pop underground since their inception in the late 1990s. From their home base in Melbourne (with a stint in England), Panel have made two acclaimed albums and two EPs, and toured much of the world (UK, Europe, Japan and New Zealand). Individual members have also been active in various other Melbourne musical happenings including Hi God People, Beaches, Jaguar Is Jaguar, Golden Lifestyle Band and Sleepy Township.
Panel of Judges’ debut for Mistletone Records, Bad Vibrations, is aptly titled; dappled with dark humour, it is a resonant and ramshackle collection of romantic tales (made-up and real), dreams and surreal everyday experiences. The tracks alternate between the band’s two songwriters, Bolger and Nania, adding up to a whole which captures the energy of Panel of Judges like never before.
Bad Vibrations was recorded live in the studio with producer Jack Farley (Beaches, Spider Vomit) and guests including Julian Patterson (Kes Band, Minimum Chips), Jarrod Quarrell (St Helens, New Season), Justin K Fuller (Zond, Mum Smokes) and Antonia Sellbach (Love of Diagrams).
The band acknowledges Antipodean influences such as The Clean, The Go-Betweens, The Chills, The Moles and Small World Experience, as well as such farther flung reference points as Fleetwood Mac, The Only Ones and The Wipers.

Nice one! It'll be hard to beat Panel's Faux Park 7'' single for pure genius, but I am looking forward to this very much.
