Rickenbacker appreciation thread

what a sweet beautiful work of art each of these examples of the highest level of craftmanship is.

Apart from the female form, these are the finest of all God's creation, he only invented trees to make the wood for these overwhelmingly beautiful instruments and fire to inspire the famous finish and so on and so forth.

realtimestrategies  said about 5 years ago:

They arent even being exported here at the moment. Word on the street it is they might even go to fender to make.

nicko_mcbrain  said about 5 years ago:

oh shit - there goes quality control; soon we'll have korean rics. shakes fist

medicineman  said about 5 years ago:

I have a Rickenbacker 360 Deluxe in MapleGlo.

it is beautiful.

I call her Rikki.

It is a wonderufl guitar to play as well - and I have always found it really versatile.

But I haven't played it much at all in the last year or so.

michael_horse  said about 5 years ago:

i almost bought the dodgiest dodgy rickenbacker copy ... i was just shocked that there was such a thing

instead of the R on the bridge, it was a Q or something

a genuine "rockenbacker"

I know, its such a shame.

What is your dream rick? id really like my 350v63 fireglow in a blue burst with bigsby and f-hole

I was told they are a 1 tone guitar and i think thats utter bullshit. I have triple toaster pups on mine and can pull so many tones out of it.

realtimestrategies  said about 5 years ago:

Do they travel as bad as ive been told they do frenk?

medicineman  said about 5 years ago:

yeah they are so not a 1 tone guitar! - but they have 1 tone that no other guitar can do so when people think of them they think of that chimmy ric sound.

but believe me - my ric is one of the most versatile guitars I own.

realtimestrategies  said about 5 years ago:

haha

medicineman  said about 5 years ago:

also people say you can't play lead on a ric - that they are too unweilding and diffcult - but that is utter bullshit too!

nicko_mcbrain  said about 5 years ago:

realtime, i only regret not buying a black 620 for $1400 a few years ago - it was just beyond me; these days, i'd flog a kidney on ebay to raise the cash. i'm a little guy, so those little neck through solids feel amazing, and the tones and stereo out are teh shit. wicked necks, too. drools the dakota was like the bare wood, stripped back, rock version with mini hums drools more

medicineman  said about 5 years ago:

they travel well in the back of cars on long interstate trips.

that was a classic HSH!!!

TheRussianBrides  said about 5 years ago:

there's a double guitar at the bass player (are they called double guitars?).

one neck - bass
one neck - guitar

$5,500.

How much was your one, KR?
I'm currently saving for one.

King_Rat  said about 1 year ago:

I bought mine in Japan so it was much cheaper than buying one here. After the currency conversion perhaps about $1800 w a sweet case. The conversion rate was shitty then too.

Most of them in Aus will stick you about 3k I would say roughly.

JunkiePhil  said about 1 year ago:

yeah, I might come have a smash on yours before I blow a cool 3 g, but I loved one I played and I think it was a knock off.

letterbox  said about 1 year ago:

i will get one one day. they are hella cheaper in the states too.

goingblank  said about 1 year ago:

If anyone's after a cheap lawsuit copy, a friend of mine has one he's selling - think it's a Greco, can't remember. It's in excellent condition and looks awesome - in fact the guy at the guitar store thought it might have been a real Rick body with a copy neck for a while. Only thing is the action is a bit high for his liking and I think it was worked out that the only way it could be lowered beyond where it is now would be to get a new neck. I've used it for a gig before and I found in very playable.Comes with its original fitted hardcase. He was looking for $600. Please PM me if you're interested or have any questions.

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

Shame about the high action. That's the main bummer about these beasts.

dudewolf  said about 1 year ago:

is it a bolt on neck?? if so, it is 100% not rick at all. they are neck thru

goingblank  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah, it's not a Rick - the guy thought it might have been. I guess I put that in there to illustrate that it is a very nice and convincing copy.

dudewolf  said about 1 year ago:

in other news. $600 is very cheap for a jap lawsuit copy. $1250 + is the going rate. sumbody snap up the deal

goingblank  said about 1 year ago:

Actually, slight adjustment - price is actually $650 (which is what he spent on it). Just wants to get his dosh back!

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

astrousersasmind  said about 10 months ago:

i dream of owning a 4005 bass. i know of 1 in melb and the dude won't sell it no matter how hard i try

Is this bass being played in a band? Can I just...look at it? They turn up on eBay every so often, usually around $12-15K, though this guy in Brisbane was offloading one owned by Ben Harper for $10K a few months ago. I thought about getting ridiculously in debt for it but just couldn't bring myself to spend that much on a bass I hadn't seen or played.

I'm thinking about buying a 2010 Rickenbacker 4003 (black 'jetglo') for $1500 ($USD...)

In fact.. I think I will almost definitely. What a bargain. What an instrument.

angelicIV  said about 9 months ago:

Nice.

There's a 4003 in fireglow on gumtree for 2450 melbourne
