You Am I are in the Meredith Music Festival film "A Weekend In The Country", playing at melbourne film festival in August.

YOU AM I ON THE BIG SCREEN!

Dan_Crad  said about 5 years ago:

Oooh, that sounds innaresting!

medicineman  said about 5 years ago:

So did Davey play at splendour?? he left half way throught he gig at Dee WHy on Saturday looking seriously ill...

actually the whole Dee Why gig had a weird vibe - anyone know what was up with the band??

iamthewalrus  said about 5 years ago:

but it was still pretty good.

there was an edge to it, a weird edge.

Mo  said about 5 years ago:

how were they @ dee why?

versionsporadic  said about 5 years ago:

tim is very proud of that tattoo isn't he, do your shirt up for fucks sake

Mo  said about 5 years ago:

what do u mean weird vibe?

iamthewalrus  said about 5 years ago:

suburban show, bogans, tim very quickly changed from being charming to nasty and back again.

Mo  said about 5 years ago:

maybe they should only play inner city venues hehehehe JOKING

iamthewalrus  said about 5 years ago:

would have saved me the trip out into the provincials.

medicineman  said about 5 years ago:

it was weird.. the between song chatter started out great - the wshow had a really greta vibe... but there seemed to be a problem with Tim's montior mix and he was gettinga bit shitty about it and that flew on to getting a bit shitty and certain parts of the crowd.. then it really blew up during the solo acoustic set when someone yelled out "we love you tim" and he responded with a devastated "well if you love me then give me back my daughter"... from then on in the whole night was weird.... Davey only came back for one song looking completely pale and ill... he walked off again.. then the three piece played Can't Explain and Trike to fill in time.... guitar tech let htem know that davey wasn't coming back.. from then on... the whole set was weird... after most songs there was a hundle of conversation between tim, andy and rusty sorting out what to do.. and tim was going from happy to be playing and really picking up the slack to being really depressed between songs.. including saying at one point "i'm sorry - whenever i start talking between songs I hate myself". it was really weird. Davey looked really bad when he was on for purple sneakers so i hope he recovered okay...

on the other hand - it is the tail end of a really long tour..

but yeah no encore - just a really long set.. that included a bunch of things that i hadn't heard in a while.. and a really loose three piece set which was great but strange at the same time.

there were definite issues going on with the sound on stage and stuff and dave not being there.

but yeah... I'm glad I was there... for everything that happened they really did play amazingly well.

iamthewalrus  said about 5 years ago:

i'm glad i saw the three piece, i'd never seen it before.

Mo  said about 5 years ago:

hahaha u sound like a Brit when talkin about aussies as "colonials"

iamthewalrus  said about 5 years ago:

provincials dude, provincials.

thomasisfaraway  said about 5 years ago:

davey got taken to hospital. anyone know if tey played splendour?

medicineman  said about 5 years ago:

Wow it's been 5 years since Friends Like You was released. Time goes fast. One of the few bands left that haven't lost it.

loader is still better

Dan_Crad  said about 6 months ago:

Which Creedence song? And yes, Andy does have a great voice - should sing more songs.

ghoti-max  said about 6 months ago:

Fortunate Son. Andy needs a mock classic rock side project.

Dan_Crad  said about 6 months ago:

Cool!

Lozenge  said about 6 months ago:

What's Andy's voice like?

Can he belt out a Creedence tune like Fogerty?

I've seen so many You Am I gigs but never heard a peep outta the guy except for some backing vocals that weren't very audible cuz the band are cracking loud in the best way.

I wanna here Andy sing!

Lozenge  said about 6 months ago:

*hear

ghoti-max  said about 6 months ago:

He belted out that chorus like nobody's business...genuinely quite surprising, that kind of subtle growl and everything. Severely under-utilised!

The Temperance Union were turning into a mock classic rock side project last time I saw them.

my hopes for these releases:

180 gram 2 LP per album coloured vinyl
remastering and matbe a bit of a sonic tweak
couple of album era b sides tacked on the end
nice new liner notes.

whatwhat  said about 4 months ago:

i don't care about the vinyl.

i want em in fancy deluxe edition cds like the suede and smashing pumpkins were released this year - two cds plus a dvd.

nedb  said about 4 months ago:

I want a new record, the last one was aces...
