west wing season 1

kabukiboy  said about 1 year ago  or at  10:23PM on Tuesday, January 16 2007.

can someone help me out with a rip of the first dvd from the first season? my (dodgy) copy doesn't play!

Modi  said about 1 year ago:

Nah. It only costs 25 bucks from JB though.

It would be half that much just to pay for DVDs to burn it on!

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

let me here again express my total and utter love for this show. beautiful!

manchild  said about 1 year ago:

25 bucks! fark, i'm so there.

Modi  said about 1 year ago:

It's changed since September the 11th. I forgot how old it was before I started watching it from the start.

kabukiboy  said about 1 year ago:

hmm....25 bux is good...but i only need disc 1....

kabukiboy  said about 1 year ago:

actually i think i need the last disc too so maybe i will go buy it....

Modi  said about 1 year ago:

Torrents?

kabukiboy  said about 1 year ago:

could only find torrents of the whole season (tho not exactly sure of the best place to look for torrents)

modhisattva  said about 1 year ago:

You know you can select which files of a torrent you want to get, don't you?

As long as the episodes are separate files, you should be able to choose only the ones you want.

Try IsoHunt or Mininova for a start

kabukiboy  said about 1 year ago:

in jb hifi each season is selling for $114 now??

modhisattva  said about 1 year ago:

No way, they were about $25 only a month ago... new stock? Fuck knows. That's outrageous

Inactivist  said about 1 year ago:

Only show on TV that makes you feel smarter after watching.

kabukiboy  said about 1 year ago:

hhmm - i worry that people think that west wing is somehow based in reality but i haven't seen any satanic circle dances and secret hand shakes so far...

modhisattva  said about 1 year ago:

Based in reality? No, it's the fantasy presidency of the writers, obviously. It surely hasn't escaped anyone's notice that for the whole period of Bartlett's presidency, George W has been in the Whitehouse?

It's quite funny to watch the "Democrat" way of dealing with things as opposed to how it actually happened.

kabukiboy  said about 1 year ago:

i was thinking more about joe public america than all the smart chats here....

shineslikerubies  said about 1 year ago:

aaaah. acquired season 1-6 on the weekend. have already watched through to half-way through season two. dear god it's addictive. i love this show so much. i want to work in the fictional whitehouse!

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

I could sex on this show forever and ever and not get tired. ZOMFG!!!!

shineslikerubies  said about 1 year ago:

classy astral! who would be first?

Ohyeah  said about 1 year ago:

sure it is fictional, but alot of the government and legal parameters discussed are for real. i'd rather people learnt about politics and law via west wing than shit like ally mcbeal or CSI

shineslikerubies  said about 1 year ago:

oyyeah - i so agree. plus, it is a show that can get people excited about politics, which is a positive in itself, because it means that they might be more likely to engage with their local political system.

well, in an ideal world anyway.

becuase josh doesn't practice/ go to temple

it is also mentioned a few times like when they are stuck on the election trail

shineslikerubies  said about 6 months ago:

yeah, it is definitely mentioned more than once, but josh is a non-practicing jew, unlike toby.

questionmark  said about 6 months ago:

I thought I had missed something like him finding out he is adopted and is in fact a gentile like in that curb your enthusiasm episode.

red menace  said about 6 months ago:

oh, totally. I've become much more motivated to read more about the US political system, rather than just the stories that come out of it.

Any my other half is now totally pumped about US politics. I never expected he'd get so into WW. I also credit this to Josh and Toby.

shineslikerubies  said about 6 months ago:

yes, it was great. i was at a party on the weekend, and they were all at various stages of ww obsessiveness. some were still new to the show, and only up to about season 3. some had been through the series once. some, like me, are up to their third/fourth viewing.

it was awesome and nerdy.

questionmark  said about 6 months ago:

the os version has heaps of cool extras whereas the region 4 has NONE

anok  said about 6 months ago:

yes, i love josh and toby. though i've only seen (most of 6 & 7). looking forward to going way back to the start.

anok  said about 6 months ago:

oh, and margaret! so rad!

and apologies for the above bracket spazzness.

fethehellcat  said about 6 months ago:

mellygoround said 28 days ago: i love toby too. but i wouldn't do him. i'd do sam in a second.

You wouldn't sleep with Toby? That is so bizarre to me. He is so intense and smart and noble. I love him in my body parts.

red menace  said about 6 months ago:

i've been watching it from the US 'folio' version with all seven seasons in one pack. each season has it's own folder while files away. I haven't paid much attention to the extras, but we've only got about 3 eps of season 7 left, so perhaps I'll duck into those once we're finished.

oh, and margaret! so rad!

yes! she is the best! the hottest ranga around. so detail-oriented and idiosyncratic. and all with super hot red hair.

also, how awesome was her mystery pregnancy, where it was referenced once, and then never again...

shineslikerubies  said about 6 months ago:

the hottest ranga around.

no way. what about andy? she is damned spunky.

as is mallory!

in fact, it's a show full of hot rangas.

babysteps  said about 5 months ago:

i've started watching Studio 60 - the aaron sorkin postWW show with Josh, Matthew Perry and Danny

it's all very west wing-esque - but set in a saturday night live type show - but doesn't have quite the knockout punches that west wing had

also kind of annoying that josh is josh even when he's not being josh... if you know what i mean...

questionmark  said about 5 months ago:

bruno was rumoured to be the father because he gave her a bracelet or something one episode.

red menace  said about 5 months ago:

i fear that once i finish these last couple of episodes I will become ensconced in the internet chatter about WW, especially when it comes to tidbits like this Bruno rumour!!

anok  said about 5 months ago:

bruno's hair in season 7 is the pits. i guess that kind of makes him the anti-margaret in a way.

turtle  said about 2 months ago:

Hit season 7 very hard yesterday. 7 episodes..what a show, and quite relevant to today

en la noche  said about 2 months ago:
