Rooftop Access

Kristy  said about 5 years ago  or at  10:48PM on Saturday, January 13 2007 in stupidity

Well a quiet Saturday night has not been wasted, i just discovered (on an over adventurous trip to the bins downstairs) that i can access the rooftop of my apartment building.
There is a little deck up there and everything. There is a big sign that says "No Unauthorized Personnel" but the door is unlocked so i figured it was fair game. Tomorrow i'll go rooftop sunbaking with a good book, or parhaps i'll go do some drawing in the quiet. ahhh, i have always dreamed of living in a block that i can get onto the roof.

So long as you don't get locked out there!

littlearch  said about 5 years ago:

surely yr authorised? does it require a key? how ace, you can have al fresco dinner parties

hiponion  said about 5 years ago:

That would be radness.

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

I know! im really excited. i guess i just have to make sure i take my mobile, in case i get locked up there or something. I'd say dinner might have to wait till i can be sure my guests and i wont be rudely interupted by the body corporate.
I'm not sure if it has a keyhole, i didnt think so, so it might not even lock.

woo, im all dizzy, i've been living here a year already!

So exciting! Did you get butterflies when you went exploring?

scissors  said about 5 years ago:

Yeah. Do these look familiar?

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

yes, i got butterflies... i was so excited when i found it. I'd love to go up there and chill out now, but its kinda chilly and windy outside today, typical.

Modi  said about 5 years ago:

That sure is an adventurous trip downstairs that leads you to the roof.

Has it got a railing around it? Or just the deck?

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

nope railing, a ledge about a meter and a half tall. its not too pretty but its damn cool, views of the yarra and crown.

toadphoney  said about 5 years ago:

Any Plants?

Modi  said about 5 years ago:

Gross. Crown is horrible.

I had some nice views of the bay end of the Yarra yesterday, from the mess of a survey ship I was visiting. So cool. I think I want to be a seafarer.

Actually, no I don't. No drinking on board, and they go out for a month at a time.

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

a dead pot plant that looks like someone just took it out there to get rid of it. Its pretty dull, but i'm not fussy. it looks like your not supposed to be up there, i just want it for chilling out and reading, sunbaking with a friend, maybe a glass of booze with the boyfriend...

scissors  said about 5 years ago:

it's like yr own private madame brussels. all you need is some astroturf and sponsorship from big tobacco!

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

ha ha! yeah! it looks alot like that minus all the astro turf and hot gay guys.

Modi  said about 5 years ago:

And no one to light your fags, and bring you blankets when it gets a bit chilly.

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

im only a couple of floors back down, i'll survive doing it myself.

Modi  said about 5 years ago:

No way. You need servants.

I was talking about rooftop access a couple of days ago. One of my favourite things to do is finding old office buildings in the city where you can go roofing. Fun + adventure.

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

i know! i love that stuff.

hand hell  said about 5 years ago:

So, hey....party on yr roof, kristy!

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

ha ha, yeah right.

doyle  said about 5 years ago:

take some photos and show the world. Or at least the 5% with internet access.

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

sure, i'll certainly do that. they'll be on my flickr before the day is through.

svelteslacks  said about 5 years ago:

will you take me there on a ladydate?

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

yes, if you like... we have to be quiet.

svelteslacks  said about 5 years ago:

i promise. rad.

i am being taken on a rooftop hunt soon. i'll let you know of any others that we find.

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

yeah! i love that stuff.

svelteslacks  said about 5 years ago:

hopefully i won't get a mad desire to jump off one.

The place where I stayed in New York (a friend's apartment on 16th St) had rooftop access. I spent my first night in town up there, out of my mind on 'shrooms.........welcome to Noo Yawk!

Kristy  said about 5 years ago:

oh my, thats way better, New York Rooftop.
my rooftop isnt as cool as that, but then its not in New York, i'll go up there tonight and take some pics.

flobs  said about 4 years ago:

So anyone know any good buildings in Melbourne city that you can access the roof of...???

Block  said about 4 years ago:

My office building- 15 floors up.
Invite only, sorry, mate.

Mr Wu  said about 1 year ago:

soo...is there some kind of inverse cave clan for rooftop access?

SGH  said about 1 year ago:

I remember going to the top of some comish flats early one morning to see the sunrise with a mate after having a fairly... festive... night. He was convinced it would be easy to get onto the roof. Suffice to say it's not and you can't.
