cheezel  said about 1 year ago:

cheers rosiea......it's all so clear now.

rosiea  said about 1 year ago:

if you were planning to spend time out of paris in france then france mite be ok, but if it was a paris only thing definitely do spain too

seamonkeydisco  said about 1 year ago:

hahahahha. france and spain.

once i knew a girl who's breasts were named france and spain. she was hotter than the sun.

ahhh.

shazzat  said about 1 year ago:

Well my best friend was planning on spending one year in spain, one year in France... she liked Spain so much though, she spent another year there. But now she's going to study in France. So?? Try to do both!

Another friend moved Spain, and hasn't left. So it must be a pretty fun place!

cheezel  said about 1 year ago:

shazz-cheers sounds good.

littlearch  said about 1 year ago:

there might some very interesting bands on tour in spain when yr overseas, cheezel

louis  said about 1 year ago:

spain! love france, but spain is cheaper, better weather (for the most part), hotter people and yummier food. especially good if you like staying up late.

thenewmeatloaf  said about 1 year ago:

Spain is awesome, and France is full of arrogant French cunce.

Simple decision, really....

cheezel  said about 1 year ago:

jesus france sounds shit:(

squircle  said about 1 year ago:

Barcelona is an amazing place. I heard down South is beautiful like Granada, Galicia. You wont regret.

katiepotatie  said about 1 year ago:

if you havent been to either, do both.

i like them both, and once you have seen for yourself you can add your own 2c to this argument, and next time you'll know where you wanna spend more time.

pagey  said about 1 year ago:

Spain all the way. Just watch out for the Basque separatists..

pagey  said about 1 year ago:

When are you going cheezy? I will be in Spain mid-late Feb so if it´s after that I might have some tips for you..

HEB  said about 1 year ago:

What happened to the five days in each port plan?

cheezel  said about 1 year ago:

pagey and HEB-this is when all the friends are heading home,.......mrs and i have two weeks alone:)

williammiller  said about 1 year ago:

I loved Paris and disliked a lot of Spain...but maybe just cos of Barcelona and where I was staying. It felt like the gold coast. Felt very unsafe all the time.

Madrid was kind of boring too.

Paris, well, I'm trying to go there next week.

monkeyman  said about 1 year ago:

Spain - Pros: Most fun beautiful awesome country in Europe. Do It! Barcelona is unbelieveable. So is Majorca if you've got the time...

Pyrenees area worth a look?

russiancaravan  said about 6 months ago:

Anyone got any accom. tips for Barcelona? Budget, but not too budget.

HEB  said about 6 months ago:

Pamps madness again
Some great pics though

rockandrollshots  said about 6 months ago:

France is shit. That's why I'm coming to spend 3 months in Melbourne this summer! (The Hellacopters are playing in the center of the country in September) I live in the south so if you're coming there, I could be your guide.

dude, driving through catalunya and the pyrenees by bus is stunning visually. i highly recommend it.

russian, when you planning being there? it's peak season already... book, book, book.

of the hostel mob, Home have multiple locations and weren't too skanky. may have changed since i was there last though. if you're talking lower end hotel, that's trickier. tons of options, it's just sorting the wheat from the chaff.

katiepotatie  said about 6 months ago:

russian go to mambo tango hostel! fairly central, really homely, and best of all about 3 doors down from the best tapas place :D

russiancaravan  said about 6 months ago:

Thanks, guys. I'll be there early Jan and no-one seems to want to take my bookings yet! I thought I was being good by getting a couple of places organised for accom... and nada!

nicko_mcbrain  said about 6 months ago:

jan is low season - you'll be fine.

Godzilla  said about 6 months ago:

took ms godzilla to the airport today for her flight to paris. It was cancelled due to industrial action.

So now She has been put up at the Brighton leSands Novatel until the crack of dawn tomorrow. its going to be one day less in France

rawr  said about 4 months ago:

So I've made a spur of the moment decision to get out of Costa Rica and fly to Madrid. Tomorrow.

Really dying to see some bands and buy some records. Any suggestions?

gabbo  said about 4 months ago:

i'll be there in jan too, and we are planning to just wing it (with a copy of lonely planet prob) as far as accom in hostels throughout spain and france. is this plausible?

also, are the euro-rail passes worthwhile, esp if we need to also head over to italy?

finally, i really want to catch some bands whilst there. any tips for the scenes in france and spain?

manchild  said about 4 months ago:

The Man In Seat 61 is the best resource for information about travelling by trains in Europe, especially for working out which pass best suits you. If you are spending time in Italy it might be better and cheaper just travelling on regional trains rather than the Eurostar Italia network.

re: winging it with accomodation, yes, its very plausible and it probably won't be that busy in January too, however i also recommend using sites like Hostelworld to book things on the cheap and as a backup in case the recommended places in Lonely Planet are full. Trip Advisor can help you get more info (via user reviews) about places you find on Hostelworld.

We found most hostels now have free wi fi but you pay for accessing the imternet on their computers so if you have an iphone or similar wifi phone/device it will come in handy.

suggest getting to portugal

france ... paris (where else!) ... plenty going on ... gibius, au petite garage, go up to Pigalle area.

barcelona ... best place for gigs in spain ... just check the bill posters around town

should get off the expensive tracks and head east ... lithuania starting to get a good music scene going.

euro passes ... not worth it i reckon. just wing it once your there. flights can be ridiculously cheap too ... some you only have to pay taxes and can be 10 to 20 euros.

gabbo  said about 4 months ago:

thanks guys. great ideas. i've bookmarked those 3 sites, and looks like going to random gigs could just be a fun way to do it.

the other thing i was thinking... hire cars. is this plausible? we only intend to do brussels to paris to barcelona to rome, and anything in between over the month will be bonus.
