This is so fun! I bowl in a team of girls from Uni. We are pretty good. My average is 155!
How good are the rest of you? Are you in bowling leagues in Melbourne? Is there a Mess+Noise bowling team?

i got beat my a 12 year old kid last time I went bowling. the shame was too much for me to risk bowling again.
michael_horse averages 26 per game

The rest of us are pretty good
Are you in bowling leagues in Melbourne?
Nah I live in Sydney
Is there a Mess+Noise bowling team?
No, Make one!
My average is 185 in real life bowling, 200-odd in Wii bowling
I bowled at Northcote Bowl two days ago. Fun City!
I am not very good though.
"michael_horse averages 26 per game"
that's 26 chuckles at how bad filterfeed is going, per game
I bowl there too rawr.
on a side note, filterfeed has discovered the best bowling bargain around, but i don't want to make it well known, in case it gets taken over by chats
(not that i care, but then she'd boycott it, and i'd have to stop whipping her)
my highest score is like 179. wish i could curl it like the pros
It's not milton bowl, but it aint bad. I love the olde style bowling alley charm!
milton bowl in qld?
my uncle is a bowling champion and he taught me one little technique that doubled my score.
Milton Bowl is super rad.
"my uncle is a bowling champion and he taught me one little technique that doubled my score."
raising the bumper bars is not a technique
oh har har.
it's on horse.
you, me and a bowling ball.
what, svelte? use the diamonds on the lane?
come on, that was GOLD!
actually, despite being able to whip filterfeed and loki, i'm not that good ... i think 135 was the highest i got last weekend, out of 3 games
>milton bowl in qld?
The one and only.
it's all about thumb positioning.

Been sooooooo long. I am nostalgic for the days of $5 two-games-shoe-hire-hot-dogs-fries-and-a-coke.
Apparently they're knocking down Norfcote AMF to build overpriced apartments. Not cool. Sure, it's ramshackle and old, and the air hockey puck tends to fly off the table far too often, but it's rad. And it's the only reasonably priced bowling alley near the city.
sniffle
Any idea when it closes?
I want a final roll there before it does...
Not sure. It was bought last year I think, but it must be closing soon. I wanna get a bowl in before it closes too.
Oh no! I bowled there just last week! Will also have to head back for a final roll.
And a final $2 hot dog or two.
Sad times.
Dunno when it's gonna close, it could be anytime from very soon to a year or more.
Madden is trying to push planning permits through as quickly as possible, so I hear it's probably gonna be sooner rather than later. Unless it actually manages to get heritage listing. Then the overpriced apartments are fucked.
evil grin
Mannnn... apartments are always replacing stuff i like. Like the Brunswick snooker room. Now this.
Stoopid yuppification.

Fucking cunts
That sucks about Northcote Bowl, where is that old man that sits in the room at the end of the lanes gonna watch TV now? :(
What a joy to be living between a Harvey Norman, Bunnings and in front of a carpark home to the greatest collection of overweight, mouth breathers ever assembled at any given time.
New York Apartment Lifestyle at it's best.
Oops! I thought you ment the Highpoint Bowl.
Haha.
As you were.
BTW .
If you want your own bowling lane - Urban Salvage in Spotswood saved all the ones from the Essendon Bowling Lanes when they knocked it down. They are pretty awesome.
THEY KNOCKED DOWN FLETCHER ST AMF???
Enfield/South Strathfield AMF closed a while ago and they opened a shiny new one in Homebush, in that centre under the freeway where the outback steakhouse is (the old Arnotts factory).....but apparently someone's bought the old Enfield premises and has re-opened it! Can't wait to check that out!
I panicked a year ago when I saw a 'for sale' sign on Fairfield AMF (where I spent much of my formative years hanging out and playing pinball) and went in for a few games, but fortunately it's just the building that's for sale, AMF still have a long term lease and the building's only being sold on condition that they stay.
They still don't get it. Bowling was huge in the states because you could buy booze there. Not many of the ones I knew had bars in them.
I'm pretty sure Manhattan Superbowl at Mascot is licensed, but it's just not the same. The '50s retro theme ruins it for me.
Bowled some of the worst games of my life at the Mountain Bowl in Williams, Arizona. I suspect the bar had a lot to do with that. And we came out and the car was under two inches of snow.
I'd love to buy the old Geelong Bowl building, kick out the God botherers and restore it to it's former Lebowski - esq glory.
Which makes Northcote's closing more of a tragedy. Goodbye, $5 stubbies!
Norfcote's closing on April 26th! Perhaps even earlier. cries
Went on Sunday night, had mad funz, ate hot chips, injured my finger on their ever-deteriorating air-hockey table, won something from a claw machine, spoke to the lady there who told us when they're closing. This fucking sucks. I'm gonna miss the place. It's a community icon dammit!
