i doubt i can afford it then either. people are starting to look at me weird with my antique phone with no polyphonic real ring tones and no games and no music and no camera and no colour display. but screw them all, it still works as a phone!

my phone is so old, monochrome screen obviously and all the numbers have rubbed off the buttons which makes texting interesting

mehhh. its got no 3g, the handsfree kit makes u use crappy apple phones to listen through, the screen will get scratched to al buggery and the engineers forget that most people prefer the tactile feedback in pressing physical buttons, which is why most ppl use a pda only when they have to. 2megapixel camera without flash thrown in for good measure and you got a pretty average device for the price its going to fetch. mehh.

Yeah, no 3G kinda makes it supid. But having OSX in the palm of your hand is cool.

hmmm some research on the apple website suggests you need to download OSX Lion 10.7.2 in order to get it working on the Mac. Price is $29.

When I checked for software updates all it gave me 10.6.8 but no icloud. Is there any way around the $29 download? i.e. will it be free eventually?

The icloud website seems to work fine though. I don't understand technology.

Sorry, yes, you need Lion to use iCloud. Lion comes free on new Macs, but you'll have to purchase it if you're still running Snow Leopard.

maybe upgrading to lion gives you complete access. because i've spent a few minutes playing around with the icloud website, and the only things it will back for you is:
mail (if you've got a .me email address), contacts, ical and iwork.

I don't have /use any iwork apps, use gmail and my contacts and ical backup automatically to my macbook when i sync my iphone so it's kind of pointless so far.

Auto-synching iPhone apps (especially if you and your g/f both have iPhones) and Photostream are the two most useful features I've found so far.

I'm gonna give iTunes Match a go when I've finished ripping some more of my CD collection, could be pretty sweet.

Please help. I left my phone out in that storm last night and it is now not working. I put it in rice for a bit and it started working. Then the sim card stopped reading but i could still use it as an ipod but now it is not even turning on. Just comes up with that fucking apple logo.

You know the blue line that tells you how long the track goes for and how long left to go and if you wipe yer finger along it you can quickly fast forward and stuff? Yeah...well thats fucken gone how do you get it back. No biggie but I did kinda like it.

Ah, Lax, we're in the same boat, man. I had a Pantera ringtone. The Great Southern Trendkill. The fucking intro to that song is the perfect ringtone. Easily done on Nokia. Not so much on iPhone.

It was the bridge of Reign In Blood....no wait that was my message tone and then it got a bit nuts when I had heaps of messages so I got rid of it. My ringtone was South Of Heaven

It's pretty simple - follow the bouncing ball and it comes together. I wish apple did make it a little less hacky though.

FWIW, I have KC Accidental by Broken Social Scene as my ringtone, and the first ''ping'' from Pink Floyd's Echoes for texts. The ringtone sucks, I think I'll probably go back to Another View Point by Cornelius... but the text tone: there is no better.

Tap the screen when you're playing a song through itunes. It should reappear.

Riddle me this iPhone gurus: when someone emails you an mp3, can you download it into your iPod on the phone? Or do you have to put it in your Dropbox, then on your laptop, then import it through iTunes? Because I am sick of having to load the email message every time I want to play it.
