i doubt i can afford it then either. people are starting to look at me weird with my antique phone with no polyphonic real ring tones and no games and no music and no camera and no colour display. but screw them all, it still works as a phone!
haha, yeah, the receive and hang up button on mine's wore off as well. without the little red and green phone symbols guiding me, people only have a 50/50 chance of getting thru!
mehhh. its got no 3g, the handsfree kit makes u use crappy apple phones to listen through, the screen will get scratched to al buggery and the engineers forget that most people prefer the tactile feedback in pressing physical buttons, which is why most ppl use a pda only when they have to. 2megapixel camera without flash thrown in for good measure and you got a pretty average device for the price its going to fetch. mehh.
yeah i know (and do) - but thats not what I want. I want to be able to wake up to full songs from the ipod component of the phone. You used to be able to do it on old models of ipod.
has anyone worked out how you can forward an SMS?
say i get an sms from someone, and want to forward it to someone else, is there any way i can actually do this?
can't work it out.
thanking you in advance,
tigers.
Just another piece of stock-standard functionality Apple decided isn't important. We'll get it in the 11th update of the OS, and it'll be announced as revolutionary.
Also, you can't reply to an SMS by calling the sender, nor can you get any info about the sender except their name if they're already in your address book. In fact, if they had more than one SMS-capable number in your address book, you wouldn't be able to work out what number they sent the SMS from.
Nice one, Jobsey.
Well, to be honest I HATE and DETEST iPods - OK, coverflow is nice, but other than that, the way they organise your music is (to me) utterly horrible.
I've bought a few music videos from iTunes though, and I imagined (and still do) that I might put some TV on it, as well as podcasts, so I imagine I'll use a reasonable amount of its space eventually...
As it's jailbroken, I can copy any files I want to its filesystem - albeit needing SCP or something (as well as a wireless network) to get them on and off. Although on a Windows computer (at least), it's recognized as a camera, and appears in My Computer as a kind of mass storage device, albeit only showing you the camera roll jpgs... Could probably put any files you like there, haven't tried!
yeah mine is jailbroken and i ssh to it from my mac. you can put whatever you want on it - I just dont have a need for portable storage at the moment. I need to sort out being able to copy songs to and from it from my ubuntu box (via itunes on the mac). I know it can be done - just havent played around with it yet. Then I'll probably fill the other 7gb.
If you're still going to be using iTunes, I presume you just need to be able to connect to the Ubuntu box from OSX and open the music folder in Finder? You should be able to drag and drop straight to the iPod/iPhone in iTunes rather than going via the iTunes library...
Not sure that's what you mean though.

my phone is so old, monochrome screen obviously and all the numbers have rubbed off the buttons which makes texting interesting

Yeah, no 3G kinda makes it supid. But having OSX in the palm of your hand is cool.
it will sell by the bucketload and you know it.

does anyone know if there is an app that lets me use my mp3's as the alarm wake up music? why I cant do that out of the box, is astonishing.
Yeah, that would be good.
i don't get it when people complain about bugs that have already been fixed in the latest os...
k2, you can use ringtones as alarm wake up music.
yeah i know (and do) - but thats not what I want. I want to be able to wake up to full songs from the ipod component of the phone. You used to be able to do it on old models of ipod.
ooh.
that would be a good function.
right now i wanna wake up to 'saints of los angeles' by motley.

Yep, another major fault raven.
