In Dennis Hopper's doco he says that on the set of Apocalypse Now marlon was the only one who hadnt read the book and that Francis Coppola had to take him up the river on a boat and spend a week with him while he read the book to him out loud. and even then he was struggling with the role and being a bit of a sook. the only scene with Hopper and Brando together was shot in 2 parts at Brando's request so the actors didnt have to work together. Presumably he was scared of dennis and his cameras.
of course, that's not to say he wasnt hott!

nah, brando didn't want to shoot any scenes with hopper because dennis hopper stank. he didn't bath at all during filming.
there was a brando doco on the bio channel last month.
