McGauz  said about 5 years ago  or at  6:24PM on Saturday, July 1 2006 in music news

thought I'd start this, cos I not only love the band, and wish to champion anything and everything they do heh.. but they're touring this land again in September, and it's a new site with no other existing OKKERVIL threads. So there...

*rad band
*touring in September

I'm sure LTI will be on here soon enough to post the dates again.

Also, I hear news of a new EP in time for the tour! Woo.

Great damn show. They were keen to play all night but, alas, it could not be so. Highlights for me were A Girl In Port & Your Past Life is A Blast. Sheff is a star, looking forward to tomorrow nights solo show.

mark  said about 7 months ago:

Your Past Life is A Blast. - This song was done so well....

strangecousin  said about 7 months ago:

good show last night at the metro. Setlist across all their records with most from the latest and black sheep boy. I was a bit gutted not to get A Stone but how was Will to know it's my favourite tune.

JJ  said about 7 months ago:

Will did a lovely version of A Stone at the solo show in Melbourne Sunday.

strangecousin  said about 7 months ago:

Yea he did one last time at the Annandale which was pretty special. Did he play other Okkervil River songs at the solo show or other stuff? I like the Golden Opportunitys mixtape which seems mostly him solo, doing a fair few covers.

JJ  said about 7 months ago:

All Okkervil River songs. Good mix of all albums-a few from the first album. I was hoping for Listening To Otis Redding At Home During Xmas but no dice.

JJ  said about 7 months ago:

Nice solo performance of Your Past Life As A Blast

He did a beautiful version on keys Sun.

lekkas  said about 7 months ago:

nothing from 'down the river of golden dreams' at the solo show (that i remember), was disappointed with that. For Real sounded great with just him on keys too.

Wonky  said about 7 months ago:

I did photos at the Metro last night, it was a great show.

Just sayin'

mud  said about 7 months ago:

So Jarvis-y!

mud  said about 7 months ago:

They were amazing in Brisbane last night BTW.

strangecousin  said about 5 months ago:

There is a Golden Opportunities 2 mixtape for free via the website,
Track listing:
It is So Nice to Get Stoned (by Ted Lucas)
U.F.O. (by Jim Sullivan)
One Soul Less On Your Fiery List (by David McComb)
Plan D (by Bill Fay)
Dry Bones (American Traditional)

bigdaddykane  said about 5 months ago:

Any good?

strangecousin  said about 5 months ago:

Yea, it seems pretty good, pretty mellow. I've only had one listen. I don't know the original artists or songs so I can't comment about that. Give it a listen, money back guarantee.

brody  said about 5 months ago:

so many references to this mix tape came up in my twitter feed. The first two songs are from records that are absolute must-haves, and have recently been reissued (by yoga records and light in the attic respectively).

but what kind of mixtape has five songs?

strangecousin  said about 5 months ago:

Thanks I'll look into those must haves. I guess 5 songs is really a bit half hearted but for free what can we really complain about?

brody  said about 5 months ago:

true. ted lucas s/t is an amazing folk record, and the jim sullivan is like cosmic country or some shit. both amazing. doyerselfafavour
