Sonic Youth and Stephen Malkmus doing Expressway to Yr Skull. I would've killed to see that. Sonic Youth at Bonnaroo

And here it is. God bless you youtube. Sonic Youth & Steve Malkmus live at the Bonnaroo Festival

anok  said about 2 years ago:

he fucked it up! not a real fan, obviously

anok  said about 2 years ago:

i'm listening to anagrama for the first time in a long time. what a lovely thing it is

silvertone  said about 2 years ago:

I saw SY play at Lollapalooza in San Francisco in 1995 and they played one song from just about every album they'd done at that point, including opening with Malkmus singing Expressway... first song!

djbollocks  said about 2 years ago:

I'm so excited I just found out that I'm doing a face to face interview with Sonic Youth when they're in the country. The only thing is the record co. said the interview is with Kim Deal. Is there something I should know?

Goodbye_beret!  said about 2 years ago:

What is their best album?

Ben  said about 2 years ago:

Kim Deal is in the Breeders/Pixies

djbollocks  said about 2 years ago:

Has she joined Sonic Youth Ben?

littlearch  said about 2 years ago:

yeah, her name is Kim Gordon might be a really good start

Goodbye_beret!  said about 2 years ago:

Surely just a Freudian slip.

Ohyeah  said about 2 years ago:

you evidently have a musical moron from the marketing departmnet informing you then bollocks

Ben  said about 2 years ago:

ask them about:

The recording they did out here last time at Corduroy, a live to acetate for Saucerlike records. It;'s a double LP.

Thurston programming ATP in England in Dec.

Their favorite Australian/Melbourne bands.. They're quite up to date with cool shit from here.

Jim leaving the band and how they're a 4 piece again.

spaceman1  said about 2 years ago:

they're excellent questions. do it!

fastcanoe  said about 2 years ago:

Tell Thurston to bring his fucking brother with him next time as well.

djbollocks  said about 2 years ago:

Yeah thanks Ben - they are decent questions. I'll ask them if they've heard of Jihad against America and/or Baseball as well.

djbollocks  said about 2 years ago:

Who is Thurston's brother fastcanoe?

fastcanoe  said about 2 years ago:

Gene.. has an album out through Ecstatic Peace (strangely enough).. its very good.

fastcanoe  said about 2 years ago:

You could also ask them why the have never ever played Wish Fullfillment live.. (it's my favorite track and quite odd that they haven't)

djbollocks  said about 2 years ago:

Yeah Wish Fufillment is one of my faves too, strange they they don't peform it because it would seem to lend itself well to a live performance. Still so excited that I'll be interviewing Kim Gordon (or perhaps Kim Deal). Starting this thread must have given me good luck.

Ben  said about 2 years ago:

have they never played Wish Fullfillment?!!!

haha DJB.. actually.. I have it on good authority that Thurston knows Jihad..

Just sold for $89!!!!
I almost feel sorry for the person who bought it. After NYC Ghosts & Flowers it's probably their worst album.

outerspacextrapnel  said about 5 months ago:

Surely not. That was recorded straight to acetate! It must be better. They hosted Damo Suzuki a few months after that, so it must be good.

Currently reading the new SY bio Goodbye 20th Century.
A rollicking good read, and unlike the previous SY bio Confusion is Next it's packed full of new and interesting biographical details.

Word is SY have signed to Matador for their next studio album due out sometime in 2009 (provisionally titled The Eternal).

adamdmills  said 23 days ago:

it's true, they have signed to matador.

witness the rise of the indies!

djbollocks  said 23 days ago:

Sonic Youth and Matador seem like a match made in indie-heaven.
