I'm heading down tomorrow morning for a weekend of surfing. Forecast is good, can't wait!

blake3030  said about 2 years ago:

Where are you bucketbongz?

Had a great surf at Bird Rock on saturday. Pretty much had the place to myself too... which is rare as. Nice clean 2-3 foot, steep take-offs, nice walls, a few barrels. Couldn't have asked for a more fun session. Yesterday sucked though, went onshore and shithouse.

I used to surf till I blew my ears up. Good times.

VoxFuzz  said about 2 years ago:

Blake, I can tell you as a passenger trawling every beach from Stanwell Park to Kiama and back, that there was not a wave on Saturday nor Sunday. You should be grateful for your weekend lot.

blake3030  said about 2 years ago:

haha, that's unfortunate Voxy. NSW has had it pretty good over the past few weeks otherwise.

blake3030  said about 2 years ago:

I'm so fookin' sore!

Great surf today though... at Bird Rock once again. Fairly epic conditions actually. Good waves were dominated by the local hardcores, but I managed to pick off a few tasty ones :)

Hooray for the riding of waves.

I've got to start surfing again. It's so good for the soul.

hiponion  said about 2 years ago:

Does anyone else find it weird that blake surfs? I can't picture it.

It's like trying to imagine Sufjan releasing a metal album

blake3030  said about 2 years ago:

I've done it for 4 times longer than i've liked Sufjan :)

BigJohnStudd  said about 2 years ago:

Whoa, no way dude! Those waves are, like, totally hilacious!

blake3030  said about 2 years ago:

Torquay, littlerach. Shallow reef break at the right hand end of Jan Juc beach.

Awesome barrels today.

Vicco beachies have been nice over the last week. Wish i'd bother to go down. Missed a lot of great surf in the past few months. A lot.

I just heard about this contest that sounds pretty sweet. From the site:

People who submit videos of themselves surfing (be creative – couch surfing, web surfing, fake surfing, anything you can think of) to the YouTube channel can win (providing they do a Jetstar star jump in the video) $2000 worth of Jetstar flights and $2000 worth of surfing gear.

awesome to see a shot of Michael Mackie up on coastal watch this morning. This guy is one of my favourite surfers/shapers. I was lucky to get a couple of boards shaped by him and have seen him out in the water heaps. great guy.

runoutgroove  said 10 days ago:

check the width of the tail of his board - probably some crazy fish type thing.

I'm thinking of heading up to Coffs Harbour for a few days next week. Has anyone got any fave spots up that way they want to share. I think I'll stop in at Crescent Head. Where else?

frank the tiger  said 9 days ago:

This thread is refreshing.

tig  said 9 days ago:

Hey Goldfoot check out the stretch of coast between coffs and yamba off the back roads (wooli etc.) some really amzing waves in that area.

Also did anyone see todays surf in Vic. FARK! wish i wasn't stuck at work

goldfoot  said 9 days ago:

Thanks Tig.

crescent head pub is a fine drinking spot, but generally only has good surf in the winter months, around the south headland

goldfoot  said 9 days ago:

So is there anywhere else you would recommend between Newcastle and Coffs? A nice left hand point break would be perfect. The plan is to stop somewhere for a night about half way between Sydney and Coffs. Then I'm going to stay at a friends place in Coffs for a few nights.

dannulla  said 9 days ago:

if you head to yamba, check ou some beach breaks south of the town centre, probably 1-2 walk of the main road along sand tracks if you don't have a four wheel drive,

otherwise Angouire Pt bout 6-7 km south of yamba can have a great point break,

Beaches south of coffs round Sawtell can have some nice little short point breaks if the wind is in your favour,

Half way between, you can check out Old Bar, which is just near Taree, or even Forster, nice town with plenty of differnet breaks and cheap accom, but will take you bout an hour of the main road,

bah  said 9 days ago:

The headland at Seal Rocks (just south of Forster) gets great. Fairly privy to many a headstrong late teenager in the summer though.

I know Anna Bay (just north of Newy?) is a solid beach too. Depends on the weather though, as always...

bah  said 9 days ago:

Scotts Head too...

dannulla  said 9 days ago:

Also blueys and boomerang beaches between seal rocks and Forster can be quite good,

Seal Rocks will probably take you 45mins from Buladelah and Forster bout 1 hour

runoutgroove  said 8 days ago:

You'll struggle to find a lefthand point goldie, its all about rights up there. I'll definately second the recommendation of Scotts Head. Its a really nice spot, dominated by a great right hand point but so long as the surf isn't massive, you'll have no problem out there.

Sawtel is also pretty good but whenever i've been out there its been populated with the local hots shots and just as agro as any Sydney beach.

The Seal Rocks to Forster stretch is pretty good, especially Sandbar. This stretch is likely to have some fun beach breaks. Try just north of the breakwater at Tuncurry too.

runoutgroove  said 8 days ago:

take one of these 10 foot fish with you...

massive fish

goldfoot  said 8 days ago:

Thanks for all the suggestions. The only place I've surfed on the north coast are around Nelson Bay, Seal Rocks, Crescent and up around Byron. But that was years ago.

Looking forward to finding some new spots

goldfoot  said 8 days ago:

I just bought a new (secondhand) 9'2'' log. Having lots of fun with it. I'm hoping the usual weak summer swells prevail.

runoutgroove  said 8 days ago:

have fun!
