I'm heading down tomorrow morning for a weekend of surfing. Forecast is good, can't wait!

blake3030  said about 8 years ago:

Where are you bucketbongz?

Had a great surf at Bird Rock on saturday. Pretty much had the place to myself too... which is rare as. Nice clean 2-3 foot, steep take-offs, nice walls, a few barrels. Couldn't have asked for a more fun session. Yesterday sucked though, went onshore and shithouse.

I used to surf till I blew my ears up. Good times.

VoxFuzz  said about 8 years ago:

Blake, I can tell you as a passenger trawling every beach from Stanwell Park to Kiama and back, that there was not a wave on Saturday nor Sunday. You should be grateful for your weekend lot.

blake3030  said about 8 years ago:

haha, that's unfortunate Voxy. NSW has had it pretty good over the past few weeks otherwise.

blake3030  said about 8 years ago:

I'm so fookin' sore!

Great surf today though... at Bird Rock once again. Fairly epic conditions actually. Good waves were dominated by the local hardcores, but I managed to pick off a few tasty ones :)

Hooray for the riding of waves.

I've got to start surfing again. It's so good for the soul.

hiponion  said about 8 years ago:

Does anyone else find it weird that blake surfs? I can't picture it.

It's like trying to imagine Sufjan releasing a metal album

blake3030  said about 8 years ago:

I've done it for 4 times longer than i've liked Sufjan :)

BigJohnStudd  said about 8 years ago:

Whoa, no way dude! Those waves are, like, totally hilacious!

Big wave, but it doesn't seem that much bigger than some of the other massive waves people have ridden.

Good article about the variances in wave height determination in reference to this here.

anyone know of a good online guide to victorian/australian breaks? or a printed one for that matter?

there's a lot of sites that point you in the direction of a vague locale but lack detail.

There's a book called surfing Victoria which is a reasonable guide to all the main ones. Has hand drawn maps and everything. I think it's fairly old now.

Wannasurf.com has some OK crowdsourced descriptions, with a few of the harder to find breaks on there. There's still a lot of spots people like to avoid publicising though.

Coz  said about 2 years ago:

I was going to suggest wannasurf too but I was having trouble with it yesterday?

Anyone done a lombok boat trip for a week? Looking to do one later in the year with a few mates. Recommendations?

crackwhore  said about 2 years ago:

yep, awesome waves down south of the island.

team ham sandwich  said about 2 years ago:

Who did you go thru cw?

crackwhore  said about 2 years ago:

sorry THS, i should've been more specific. I actually stayed with a mate who lives there and owns a boat so it wasn't a boat trip as such.

team ham sandwich  said about 2 years ago:

Lucky man. Going for a surf this weekend. Where should I go? Thinking down the island way.

crackwhore  said about 2 years ago:

Yep, the island's a good choice, check out what the wind/swell's doing and take it from there.
