From Simon Raymonde (Bella Union)
''we can tell you this....THE ALBUM IS FUCKING INCREDIBLE!'
''I can tell you this much....
new Dirty Three album is absolutely amazing!
When a band, who've been together over 15 years with several albums under their belt, where all 3 members are now spread far and wide across the earth working with other bands, other projects, keep returning to each other to make their unique music, music that cannot be categorised or compared to others, you know just how important and significant it is, not just to them but to us. A new Dirty Three record maybe seemed unlikely, with Warren Ellis' schedule alone, as core member of Grinderman (RIP), Bad Seeds, and more recently scoring movies with long-time collaborator Nick Cave, with Jim traversing the world with Cat Power, Bonnie Prince Billy, Smog etc, with Mick's burgeoning visual arts career, there really seemed no time to write and record with fellow countrymen Mick Turner and Jim White, but with love and with family, you always come back. What is fantastic about this return, is that it is not cosy, comfortable, nice-to-be-back, not at all! This is like their first ever recordings! NOTHING ELSE sounds like this. There is an energy and a raw excitement that is evident from the first electrifying opening moments through to the album's finale, and for all their incredible music of the past, NEVER have the Dirty Three seemed more relevant''

Oh No. return to form and/or roots albums where the artist has never seemed more relevant are generally highly avoidable.
If it was anyone else I'd be worried.
phew i'm glad it seems relevant so i can pretend to listen to it!
