The Music Machine - (Turn On)
? and the Mysterians - 96 Tears
? and the Mysterians - Action (both came out the same year)
Count Five - Psychotic Reaction LP (Although it's not really an 'essential album')

Let me think of some more great albums.

13th Floor Elavators - The Psychedelic Sounds of

both fucking amazing

PsychedelicSounds  said about 5 years ago:

Love is the best album on that list for mine...of any year really.

5th dimension is also gold.

Tango Whiskeyman  said about 5 years ago:

I heard that Baby Lemonade, The Band that toured with Aurthur Lee as "LOVE", are now cashing in, calling themselves The New Love Band. I heard in their time together he freaked them out because he started taking acid again. R.I.P.

hillsonghoods  said about 5 years ago:

The Butterfield Blues Band's East-West is great. 1966.

the power of 666  said about 5 years ago:

pretty much the best time ever to be a living human, maybe.

iamthewalrus  said about 5 years ago:

The first Easybeats LP

That was 1965.

mondotopless  said about 5 years ago:

wrong, walrus. your super arsefuck internet database factory is wrong. the lp is next to me and is clearly labelled '(p) 1966 alberts productions'.

If you followed the saga you would've read that lee became a crip and started threatening the band members and their families.
but that doesn't give them the license to take the love name. what a pack of overweight bearded guitar-shredding fucks.

PsychedelicSounds  said about 5 years ago:

werent they justifying it cause johnny ecoles (sp?) played with them for a while?

iamthewalrus  said about 5 years ago:

you must have a later pressing. Easy was released in 65.

mondotopless  said about 5 years ago:

provide evidence, waldick.

questionmark  said about 5 years ago:

The Psychotic Reaction album is solid from start to finish

iamthewalrus  said about 5 years ago:

from milesago.com...

In September the first LP Easy was released and rapidly became one of the best-selling albums of 1965.

hillsonghoods  said about 5 years ago:

mondo, see here: http://www.albertmusic.com/easybeats/discography/easyalbums.htm

says september 1965. for my mind, there's a lot of filler on that album anyway. 'i'm a madman' stands out as awesome though.

questionmark  said about 5 years ago:

The Missing Links - S/T

digitallove  said about 5 years ago:

http://www.allmusic.com/ says Easy - 1965

Also says not available outside Australia until the 1990s. Interesting factoid.

HeteroAsFuck  said about 5 years ago:

The Butterfield Blues Band's East-West LP? Good choice. Been looking for it for ages.

hillsonghoods  said about 5 years ago:

i saw it the other day as a two-fer with their self-titled debut album. their version of cannonball adderley's work song is fantastic.

sister  said about 5 years ago:

i was born in 65 and 66 was a great year for being a baby. lots of good music to christen your ears with.

whatwhat  said about 5 years ago:

pretty sure "uncut" had an edition dedicated to 1966, the greatest year in rock 'n roll history, not too long ago.
