Nonny threatened to start this thread but he snoozes he looses.
So There's been a bunch of great comps in the last few years re-releasing the music of my youth. But there's still some gems they've missed. What are the great Australian tracks from the 80s and 90s that need to be comped?

john farnham
he was from the 80s
Tales from the Australian Underground vol 3 1990-2002!

my uncle gave me a tape of the 12th man. you know? from the cricket in the 80s
i walked around school going "oh jesus bill, i've been hit, i've been hit" and "next to bat, emptypeanutbutterjars"
but no one new what I was talking about except for Mr. Allen the woodwork teacher
Don't you want to talk about 80s music any more?

FUCKEN CHISEL MATE

he said that the singer used to drink a whole bottle of Vodka before he wnet on stage. he reckons that other people said it was water but it was really Vodka
God!
More Headstones stuff should surface. 'When You're Down' showed up on 'Do The Pop' but they did a few other releases in their lifetime.
Decline Of The Reptiles: 'Don't Look Down' showed up on the same comp, but their two mini-albums were great. (I wish I still had my cassette of those).
Might as well be gone - knievel
Mad Turks of Instanbul, Pyramidiacs, DM3, The Chevelles.
I'm still itching for that Lawnsmell discography that's been in the works for years now.
Someone should re-release that Onyas demo tape, too. That was fucking awesome.

throwaways - girlfriend's gone
Why would the band want someone playing a fish, Interferon? That's just weird.
play like a fish

If you ain't got bass, then your songs ain't got hooks, Ron. And you probably need to look at what bait you're using.
Also, there's the whole Omega 3 benefit.
You'll be saying we have no soul next.
No, Ron,
You are soul!
I couldn't find anywhere to put this. Chartbusting 80s GOLD! Party
Long memory needed:
Can someone please give me some info on Melbourne bands Funhouse and LSD...
What were the lineups of these two bands? I think Funhouse did a record with a rubbish-looking hand-drawn cover, but the internet is scant on info. Did LSD record anything, like a tape, a track on a comp or something? Was (extraordinary drummer) Rod McMurrich with both these groups? What's he doing these days? Was either or both just stupid party covers, or did they write original songs?
Thanks.
Googling ''LSD'' with a number of other keywords may bring up amusing results but not particularly relevant.
there was an adelaide (i think) band who transplanted to sydney in early 80's-mid 80's. put out at least one self released 7'' . is this who you mean?
funhouse is who i am talking about
is chartbusting 80s still happening? I lost channel 31 for a while after going digital and forgot about it.
Once walked into the bar at the george hotel and saw LSD do the most amazing cover of strawberry fields,it like totally blew my mind maaan. Funhouse at the tote ''ayatollah, trimboler, HEDGEBURNER.I think i may have a large funhouse poster, which may have come from said tote.Funhouse was one of the tightest, most professional and entertaining live bands i''ve ever seen in a pub.
So, Davel, to your memory was LSD the 'psychedelic' incarnation of Funhouse? I can't remember who was in what band besides Rod, maybe 'Shubox' who was in some Fred Negro projects, and a bloke maybe called Harry singing at least some of the time, but I may be getting mixed up.
There may have been other Gas Babies/Tyrnaround/Shindiggers alumni involved, so it's not surprising if the level of musicianship was high.
I'd be interested to have a look at that poster too if you could post/send a picture of it.
Blamkrecords, I think it was all Melbourne musos, but it's not unheard of for other capitals to have same-named bands (particularly in the pre-DAFSFFS olde times). I remember in the 90s in Melbourne on a particular night you could have caught both Suede and Nazz playing in pubs in Richmond.
No, sorry if I was unclear. Those two events are probs 10-15 years apart. AFAIK they are different bands. The guitarist in LSD was a guy called Geoff .He would always wear a white trenchcoat, you would see him all over st kilda.I got the feeling he was a bit of a tortured artist kinda guy, but he was a spectacular musician(how unusual). I don't think they played that often,I would always hassle him to play more.
Lubricated Goat.
I'm going to cover 'In The Raw' on my CD that I record tonight.
Look out for it

Rod, Steve Agar (Shindiggers) and Col in this lineup, Jeff 'The Butcher Of Brighton' in a later one.
Supported Funhouse at the PoW once but I can't really remember them, except that I watched them for a bit and didn't get it at all. Davel's description of them as being ''one of the tightest, most professional and entertaining'' groups would explain it 'cos I usually hate all those things.
Don't hate on Funhouse man or something bad will happen to your hedge !
My hedge gave up & blew its brains out long ago.
