PaulsGrandfather  said about 5 years ago  or at  1:40PM on Thursday, June 29 2006 in chat

I'm thinking of heading there over the Christmas break. What kind of stuff should I check out?

anonymous  said about 5 years ago:

PaulsGrandfather  said about 5 years ago:

There's a train? Excellent. I'll take a day trip there.

then jump on the Bell st bus. It takes you to the mall. Got offered a plastic bag full of leaf with bits of speed in it once. All for only $20 bucks!

That bus also takes you to Glenroy. Mecca of the dirty kebab

PaulsGrandfather  said about 5 years ago:

HEY! The Olympic Village! I gotta check that out.

I'm told there's an Aldi there... can someone confirm or deny?

LockingPlier  said about 5 years ago:

If my work hadn't moved out to swanky Thomastown you could have visited me.

Top place.

LockingPlier  said about 5 years ago:

True, PG....it's there.

aldi sucks major balls

PaulsGrandfather  said about 5 years ago:

That's a damn shame, LP. Preston is on my to-do list for possible future trips, though. Maybe I could make it a round-trip and check out the magical warehouse district.

CharlotteValentine  said about 5 years ago:

If you manage to get to Preston you can catch this tour bus that takes you around the suburb so that you can look at all the Californian Bungalows that are now condemned hippy and crust punk share houses. Make sure you have lots of film in your camera 'cause some times there's a house party going on or an eviction, and that's certainly worth a few snaps for the album.

mic  said about 5 years ago:

yeah that bell st bus goes through all the tourist spots. Even Preston.

robmccafferty  said about 5 years ago:

yeah cool... go to West Heidelberg.... you can even go to North Heidelberg if you want... but whatever you do DON'T go to NorthbyNorthwest Heidelberg.

stay away from that spot!!!

Jennie Lang and Geoff Robinson exhibit on at Heide looks interesting.

blake3030  said about 4 years ago:

That's East Heidelberg!

frigid star  said about 4 years ago:

Thats the kind of specifics that will see your ass being raped one day blake.

blake3030  said about 4 years ago:

I guess I should also expect an arse raping for having a poor sense of humour.

So I lose either way.

PaulsGrandfather  said about 4 years ago:

''Melbourne artists Jennie Lang and Geoff Robinson present a collaborative installation that engages with the architecture of the modernist building, Heide II. An arrangement of materials, including rope, timber and limestone, traverses the building’s central space and extends into the natural environment, forming an abstract structure referencing the systems of temporary bridge design.

The structure can be thought of as a three-dimensional sketch, which describes and maps relationships between architectural elements of Heide II. In addition to creating physical connections across space, Lang and Robinson introduce sound to link and produce association between points within the building.

An Arrangement to Span the Distance Between furthers Lang and Robinson’s collaborative practice of the past three years.''

What a massive wank. It took 2 people to think that up?

frigid star  said about 4 years ago:

A loss is just a step closer to reality blake.

I'm sorry there will be no pretty pictures of great moments in juicy fruit advertising for you there Paulsgrandfather, though I'm sure you could just photograph Blake coming shithole expansion and score a nice gallery spot, though that often takes two people as well.

I've never actually been to Heide, this will make for a nice excuse.

littlearch  said about 4 years ago:

can you climb it?

frigid star  said about 4 years ago:

I've no idea. Never felt that ambitious.

frigid star  said about 4 years ago:

So did I :]

I just want to listen.

littlearch  said about 4 years ago:

if you go on a weekend, i'll come too

frigid star  said about 4 years ago:

Sounds pleasant, I hear the surrounding gardens are quite enjoyable. We should ride there.

littlearch  said about 4 years ago:

that's doable. we need bicycles for the other two though - if they want to come

actually that is a really great idea. then we could ride to sister's and she could make us lunch. or perhaps she could ride and meet us there too

possibilities are endless

Goal attack  said about 4 years ago:

my favourite place in melbourne, is Heide.

frigid star  said about 4 years ago:

TR has my spare bike set up for her, we traversed to Kandos's the other day and she seemed to survive. I'm sure we could acquire another.

Grand plans all round.. as long as no children appear.

littlearch  said about 4 years ago:

sister's children are too old for you. and taller than you

you'll like them, they tease the shit out of me

blake3030  said about 4 years ago:

Heide is right next to a park where I went to many times as a child to ride my bike. I'm sure it still functions in the same manner for other kids.

So perhaps your experience will be ruined by the sounds of children playing in the background.

frigid star  said about 4 years ago:

Hmmmph :[ its a sad day when children pass the budding stage. Oh well.

Hehe, anyone that teases you is well worth my acquaintance.

frigid star  said about 4 years ago:

This is why I have a velcro waist on my pants. They fuck off quickly enough.

Friends Forever  said about 4 years ago:

So PaulsGrandfather do you just go exploring random Melbourne suburbs?
