celebrate a fine English band here..
'wonderwall' is a fine song. 'Don't look back in anger' is even better
what else is good?

Wish Andy Bell would get together with Mark Gardener and restart Ride instead of this ol' drivel....
Still, better than Hurricane #1 I s'pose...

They have toured before without Noel, but the band would be kinda rudderless without him. Maybe Andy Bell will reform Ride now.
after reading that mojo interview with noel it seemed a foregone conclusion. i can see why some people like them, for me life with oasis stopped post album 2... for me pulp were always the winner of the oasis blur ''war''...
thank fuck they is breaking up.
I certainly don't hate Oasis. I used to be obsessed with them 94-97, but I really haven't given much of a monkeys about them since Be Here Now turned out to be so awful. I'd be more upset about Shed Seven splitting up.
:)
I was interested in the early days of Oasis as an exercise in collective delusion - ''The Beatles meet the Sex Pistols'', what rubbish. It was like a generation was consciously deciding to confer Legendary Status on a band just so they could compare notes with the baby-boomers.

oh this is ripe this bullshit thread. ripe as ripe gets now. Oasis back in the day were a good band with some songs that carried the tradition on of fine melodic english pop/rock. its got nothing to do with anything else. in the face of grunge and smashing pumpkins they sung a tradition song. could of been 'streets of london' and it could of 'ferry across the mersey' or any fine english melodic pop/rock creation. haters are acting like giant dicks/
Don't worry... The Verve are recoding a new album
Tony McCarroll, drummer in Rain and Guigsy/Bonehead era Oasis has written a book about his time in Oasis. He sounds like he is pretty bitter about it all and it so far it comes across as a venomous rant against Noel (who sacked him). In an ironic twist, the lawyer that got a few million pounds in back royalties for Pete Best when the Beatles released Anthology represented McCarroll in a courtcase against Oasis trying to get a cut of all the albums he didn't play on...it ended with him getting a severance package of 600K pounds (legal fees took a massive chunk out of this) and no royalties for the songs he did play on effectively cheating him out of millions of pounds. Poor dude shoulda just shut up and copped Noel's sh#t and been content being the drummer.
New Beady Eye clip is up and about.
It's ok, bit too much gospel, but it has a good line about drrrrrinkin'.

liam has issued a ilbel writ against noel.
and in other news, noel says ''every cloud has a silver lining'' after hearing about liams fashion shop being ransacked during the riots
Its a shame Oasis were such a terrible band, Liam and Noel are so entertaining
Noel's new stuff aint bad though.
I bought definitely maybe on cd for a fiver from cashies an original aus press
