Does anyone own any? i heard a track on RRR monday night in the background of a skit on lime champions. not sure what the name of the album/ep

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

I have El Caballo Rojo as I'm sure do many others here, as well as the Fist Fit / Wrong Compass 7'', which is really great.

dudewolf  said about 1 year ago:

most of 2 litre dolby are in a new band called...something.... um trans atlantic? north atlantic?? something like that. good story. i do know they are playing at the old bar oct 7th

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

North Atlantic I think. Not that 'new' though - been going for a good five years I'd say! It's Leif's band. I think Craig might be in it too. Is Leo still in that folky thing that I didn't like much and forgot the name of? Small Knives?

dudewolf  said about 1 year ago:

yes. small knives is leo and some other dude.

lalorl  said about 1 year ago:

this is going to sound stupid but the song i heard was really slow and dark, heavy & building, no vocals. i want to make sure I purchase the right one

dudewolf  said about 1 year ago:

they only made the one record right??? red cover

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah, that was probably one of the tracks from El Caballo Rojo. It was out on Half A Cow. Not sure if you can still buy it but you can download it here: Lost and Found Music Library

Alongside Bidston Moss LOLOL

anok  said about 1 year ago:

there were two tracks on the wonder from a quarter acre compilation too. both i think were early versions of album tracks, though only one of them was an official album track, the other was secret ooooOooOOooooo!

necktie  said about 1 year ago:

one of the best bands i've ever seen live - and i followed 'em around, so i saw 'em a lot.

there's another track on a different comp. cd - from the same sessions as the WFAQA compilation and the first 7''.

a split with ART OF FIGHTING too. 'rower on the river of death' perfect.

apart from good hip hop, i maintain this band creates the best music to smoke weed to. seriously.

we were lucky to have them...fuckin' truly world-class.

buttonselgringo  said about 1 year ago:

oddly, I found a box of the ''Wrong Compass'' 7''s while going through my storage so it's still in print! (kind of!) PM if you wanna purchase one.

whathaveyou  said about 1 year ago:

From memory you could rewind past the beginning of the first song for a bonus track on this record, when that kindof thing was all the rage.

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

Hahaha. I think the band would probably have agreed!

oddly, I found a box of the ''Wrong Compass'' 7''s while going through my storage so it's still in print! (kind of!) PM if you wanna purchase one.

In addition to being pretty great songs, I really just love how fuzzy and thick everything sounds on this 7''. I recommend getting it if you like this sort of thing.

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

Fist Fit was a stunning 7''.

buttonselgringo  said about 1 year ago:

bump. hey let me get rid of the last 11 copies of the stunning ''Fist Fit'' / ''The Wrong Compass'' 7'' .... just found the stock but people need this, so proud of this one. PM for copies! yess (yes, with 2 x S's) indeed!
Sorry, make that 9 copies.

lalorl  said about 1 year ago:

anyone have copies of the album lying around?

Ron  said about 1 year ago:

You can still find it around sometimes, lalori - I know Polyester had some pretty recently.

whathaveyou said 22 hours ago: From memory you could rewind past the beginning of the first song for a bonus track on this record.

This is true. It's a great song too.

northatlantic ARE playing at Old Bar on Thurs 7/10 - I think it's just Leif & Skull this time and they are great.

gretson  said about 12 months ago:

skull is now in a new band called Tender Bones..

Tim_Marben  said about 4 months ago:

El Caballo Rojo is just pretty fucking good... Are there any other recorded works out there? Anything someone might upload for me?

carwashhair  said about 4 months ago:

I have a weird CD-R with some kind of computer-printed inlay that purports to be a JJJ session (maybe home and hosed?? some kind of local music) with either 2 or 3 tracks from around the time El Caballo was released. Goes for around 17 mins if I recall.

If I dig it up sometime soon I will try to put it in gmail.

Tim_Marben  said about 4 months ago:

That would be awesome if you could, thanks.

unvisible  said about 4 months ago:

I've got a copy of the 7'' I never listen to. I could probably be persuaded to part with it.

untold/animals  said about 4 months ago:

See above, Tim_Marben, about the Fist Fit/Wrong Compass 7.

carwashhair  said about 4 months ago:

I'd be keen for that, Unvisible!

No_Anchor  said about 4 months ago:

Carwashair! Put it in the gmail. PLEASE.

carwashhair  said about 4 months ago:

Heard and saw it a few months ago so it should be around somewhere.

If i remember rightly, there's some mention of Wentworthville on the recording. Is that where the guys came from? Wasn't a very 'indie rock' suburb in the mid-late 90's...

Ron  said 14 days ago:

Playing a set next Friday 18 May in the Grace Darling basement bar. ''It's not a reunion, it's a buffoon-ion!''

Also playing are Tender Bones, and King Shit & The Golden Boys (a Guided By Voices tribute/insult band, featuring a cast of has-been loser-rock celebrities such as Skull and ... err ... me). All humans welcome.

LeRayonVert  said 14 days ago:

I wonder if I can get to Melbourne next weekend .... seriously considering it.

In response to the previous question, a couple were from Wenty I think. It wasn't so apparent on the surface but there was a bit of indie rock around those parts in those days, Gerling came from Greystanes.
There used to be decent gigs at the Collector Tavern in Parra sometimes.

anok  said 14 days ago:

playing again!? whaaaaat? that's crazy.

untold/animals  said 14 days ago:

Seems ill-advised.

liamsnice  said 14 days ago:

They have a few times over the years just under false names. But to see them billed under their real name is very exciting indeed.

anok  said 13 days ago:

hey ron... you got an estimate time for the dolby set that night?

magicpants  said 13 days ago:

... and an estimate for the King Shit & the Golden Boys playing time?

Heinrich  said 13 days ago:

Good news.

Is there a facebook event? I need to let everyone know where I'll...I mean, I have trouble remembering upcoming gigs.

josejones  said 13 days ago:

We should have news on this tomorrow...

anok  said 13 days ago:

manchild  said 13 days ago:
