Australian musician, singer/songwriter, Craig Westwood has released an independent CD entitled Seven Songs.
Known and regarded for his obscure and eclectic work with bands Christbait, Dernrutlidge, Budd, Youngbreeder and Sealfinger.
“I was compelled to take the next solo project to its barest horizon and build a small collection of songs based around a single guitar, vocal and minimal accompaniment of other instrumentation,” he says.
Within the confines of his inner suburban quasi studio he wrote, performed and produced a collection of seven songs including a haunting rendition of Glen Danzig's ‘Thirteen’.
“The resulting Seven Songs flirts with the internal misery of the human condition and at times paints a starkly unfavourable picture of humanity itself,” he says.
Yet despite its bleakness, this work eludes to some remote and faint glimmer of twisted hope and redemption. Combined with the sublimely melancholic artwork of esteemed artist Seldon Hunt, Seven Songs takes a dimly lit snap shot of an obscure song writer attempting to mark some artistic trail through a cold Melbourne winter.

Seven Songs is available for purchased as a CD or as a digital download via craigwestwood.com

''So you think you can Danzig''
Call of the night!
A superb evening of music. Having Matt Bailey and Craig on the same bill was a stroke of genius. Nobody rocks solo guitar singer-songwriter shit like these two gentlemen.
Good work last night Craig.
'Ready To Die' was a highlight and the solo version of 'Lines...' without the other deadbeats from Dern was the perfect accidental encore.
Hopefully it's not another five or so years between a solo show.
'Lines' worked surprisingly well as a solo song. I was going to yell out for Christbait tunes, but managed to restrain myself.
Maybe next solo show he'll bust out some Christbait. Solo adaptations of 'Coinslot My Butt' and 'Big Anus' would be interesting.
