What's everyone doing? I need some inspiration.

(yes I realise we still have ages)

Always a choice between going to bed early or having a drug and alcohol fuled fiesta at someone's house.

I'm feeling festive this year I think.

Armin Van Buuren - NYE!

Etihad stadium!

glowstick challenge!

I'm soaking my whites for the next three and a half months.

I like to stay at home and watch I movie I've always wanted to see but never got around to. Recent NYEs have featured A Canterbury Tale, A Touch of Evil, and (most recently) The Limits of Control.

Then I like to go for a swim early the next day, buoyed slightly by the thought of everyone else's hangovers.

kittymunroe  said about 1 year ago:

We'll probably try and put a band or two on in our backyard - give people an actual reason to come over!

mrmagoo  said about 1 year ago:

gonna be at a beach house in Ocean Grove, taking it nice and easy

LaxCharisma  said about 1 year ago:

I hope to be working and taking the good money as I do every year.

dj  said about 1 year ago:

probably DJing somewhere. Last time i played Cameo ''Word Up'' as the clock struck 12. This year I'm thinking Clarence Carter's ''Stroke It'' could be the one!

What a cock

pennylane  said about 1 year ago:

*bumping this.

Any good gigs in Melbourne for NYE?

I was thinking of the Espy, but having Airbourne as the second headliner does not excite me.

zeechicks  said about 1 year ago:

I too bump this. I don't think I can bare another NYE in Brisbane... If I rush down to Sydney after work, what are the happy haps?

anok  said about 1 year ago:

Where are Gold Panda playing?

I don't like to commit to anything much on NYE. A bicycle crew and booze is my favorite approach to the evening. I need to be mobile...

pennylane  said about 1 year ago:

going to keep bumping this randomly, in the hope someone will give me something good to go to....I can only but hope :(

Coz  said about 1 year ago:

So... what is everybody doing? Not much happening this year that I've heard of so far.

fzchk  said about 1 year ago:

Hardcore/punk gig at the Prague Bar in Thornbury, because I can easily walk home from there.

Sunnyboyz  said about 1 year ago:

getting drunk at home... like a bitch.

getting drunk at home... like a boss

I heard the words Coon and Sheila for the first time in years last night.

As in ''Don't let me forget to drop by the 7-11 on my way home to purchase a block of Coon for my beloved wife Sheila''?

Nada.. as in a coal worker telling me that he was hoping to pick up a country sheila... and a pacific islander woman informing me of how much she hated the coons I was yabbering with.

That's a bit rich, isn't it?

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

My thoughts exactly...

FrankieTeardrop  said about 1 year ago:

What song did they count the new year down with?

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

An acid house remix of (I've Had) The Time of My Life.

That was one of the better songs of the night...

QueenElizabeth  said about 1 year ago:

Oh no.

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

I did dance to the last song of the evening though. A trance remix of Belinda Carlisle's 'Summer Rain'.

The mind boggles!

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

Bomb The Bass would have been proud.

nedb  said about 1 year ago:

It could have been worse, you could have been in Sale...

postergirl  said about 1 year ago:

It was totally nuts in a very LA way. If I told you what happened you wouldn't believe me, so I won't bother.

juicenewton*  said about 1 year ago:

c'mon tease. spill it.

postergirl  said about 1 year ago:

Had to hitch to the venue as our taxi never arrived (dumb, I know, but we had no other way of getting there; it wasn't excessively far away and I knew exactly where I was all the time.) The person who stopped for us turned out to be a celebrity dealer (or so he said) who may or may not have given us coke and a business card and who was very, very paranoid. Walked into the Standard (boutique hotel) on Sunset Strip to be confronted by a woman in a fish tank … so Entourage. The bands (Raveonettes and Autolux) were playing in the courtyard/pool area; people who had booked hotels room there were able to look down on proceedings from their balconies. After the bands finished we went inside to another part of the hotel and danced to DJs. Talked to lots of people. Finally left and went to a taco stand that someone on the street had recommended to us. We met a guy there (early 30s I would say) who said he and his friends were in town from New York and were staying at the Chateau Marmont and would we like to come up and have some drinks with them? He seemed pretty normal/non scary so we did. I'd been in the foyer/lounge of the Marmont before but never a room. It was, of course, beautiful. We had some drinks and chats and refused their hash and they tried it on but were fine about us not being into it (as they should be). I have only just seen Somewhere, too … all super surreal and, in a way, a bit much. But I figure I don't have many more partying years in me so I'm glad it happened. Loife, eh?

chickenchops  said about 1 year ago:

POSTERGIRL OMG! So very 'Somewhere'. I hope you got some Foo Fighters pole-dance choreography.

clarebear  said about 1 year ago:

I was thinking that Hellza had won the prize for the most unexpectedly interesting new years, but I think you've just beaten him Poster.

postergirl  said about 1 year ago:

Haha, one of the guys claimed to be a dancer and he did bust out some interesting moves for us. He had a James-Spader-in-Pretty-in-Pink look going on … mental.

postergirl  said about 1 year ago:

I haven't had a night like that in a really long time … or ever, really. It really was straight out of a movie.

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

Sounds amazing! May or may not have given you coke... pah!

tugboat  said about 1 year ago:

I ended up playing boardgame and nibbling at Funtime's house instead of doing nothing or go to a house party in Northcote!

Funtime!
