Who is rumoured this year?

Menomena let slip they were playing
Daniel Johnston last year has made it so I'll be disappointed if they don't announce an amazing unexpected legendary band.
I want Guided by Voices.
But based on the few chill relevant bands that aren't already playing festivals over summer... Beach House? Best Coast?
would definitely be keen for Menomena, and Beach House
and hoping for Besnard Lakes, and Kurt Vile at a stretch
Oh, and Washington.
BAM! festival!
I'm not going to Laneway anymore.
I only went last year cos it is free.
They should arrange more train or charter some tour bus this year.
Remember last year on the train?
we ended up paying a cabbie $100 to turn around and drive us to Richmond
the train station looked hectic
They're doing the 'twilight version' again, so it starts mid-afternoon and you lose a few bands, but man the Brisbane setup for Laneway is great. Nice location, no more than a minute to get between stages, love it.
washington and cloud control.
I don't think I'd go to Laneway again either unless the lineup was really amazing. Didn't have such a great time last year.
oooo menomena you say.
Well, I'd head to a side show at least.
sorry, couldn't post this earlier as I was on a mobile but the Menomena rumours come via PoA and triple j
Four Tet and Caribou
Wolf Parade was mooted a while back.
Pavement?
i predict Best Coast, Wolf Parade and Guided By voices
hold steady should be a monty - they've played it every time they've toured, haven't they?
would really like Sebadoh to play also
Laneway blog post about the new LA buzz bands might have a few clues.
Ariel Pink seems a safe-ish bet.
probably No Age again as well
Friend looking for a ticket for Melbourne... PM me (now, later) if you have one to sell at or below cost!

yeah, because booze at GP and Meredith is sooooo expensive!
no it's not. I bring my own
I saw him in Brisbane. Caught the last four songs. Shitloads of tech problems but pleased to report his new band includes Tim Shiel aka Faux Pas. When all of their equipment was working, it sounded good.
Pedestrian bros asked Ariel Pink about being named #1 on Pitchfork's 2010 list. Video http://www.pedestrian.tv/music/news/ariel-pink-on-topping-pitchforks-song-of-the-year-/33843.htm
what was the cover that !!! played in melbourne? prince?
Beers cost more at the sydney leg than big day out and toilet queues were longer. Punters were more annoying too.
Laneway Adelaide ticket

Yes, I heard them say it was Prince, I am trying to find out to because it was AWESOME.
wow, that's one cheap laneway ticket.
Really nice photo essay taken during the east coast Laneways, by Daniel Boud and pals http://lanewayfestival.boudist.com/view/?image_keywords=best
This photo is particularly beautiful.
Just got home from Radelaide Laneway.
Blonde Redhead & Deerhunter & LSF clear highlights.
Menomena had a bit of KIngs of Leon about them.
Warpaint are 4 non blondes lite.
Deerhunter finishing with Fluorescent Grey incredibly good.
High tens and sweat from Mr Harrington. In fine form.
Cut Copy have great great songs but if I wanted to see someone sing to a backing track I'd go to karaoke. Drummer only one earning his keep.
Douchbag factor pretty low. Except I realized that people who don't face the stage while a band are on just end up looking like sex offenders. Good day all in all.
And what the fuck Ariel pink?????? Shambolically astounding.
i'll go with warpaint, the antlers, and lsf as the adelaide highlights in reverse order. jenny & johnny were heaps of fun, and menomena are very indie rock pink floyd, but i like em.
totally agree re cut copy. stupendous pop but still an atrocious live act because they don't sound like they're actually 'live' at all.
Still reeling from the excellence of blonde redhead and deerhunter.
That stage was way too hard to get to. Fowlers was where it was at.
Possibly the worst setup ever. Hvaing to line up (WTF?!?!) to get into to Fowlers to see PVT. Trying to get to the other stage from the Fowlers courtyard was a nightmare. Too many stupid girls running in to use the mens toilets (yeah, I kept pissing on the seat because of you). LSF were boring... they just seemed to be running through the paces. Yeasayer were boring, Ariel Pink were / was terrible. I don't get it. I should have watched Foals instead of LSF. Missed out on Blond Redhead because we couldn't make it through to the stage in time.
Oh yeah, the place was full of fucking Jetty Surf hipster douchebag and douche-ettes.
Overall, the whole fucking festival was shit. I'm glad I got free tickets and didn't pay for the experience. Never again.
Maybe we were at a different festival, but fuckers in pastel shirts crowdsurfing like it was the '96 BDO during Les Savy Fav was prettty douchey in my opinion.
what? just because the lead dude looks a bit like a Followill?
other than that, these guys couldn't be more different to KoL
Kings Of Leon hair exactly. Don't mind their past 2 albums but didn't do much for me live.
Had little problems all day. Saw Warpaint and Menomena standing toward the back of the courtyard. Easy getting to the cinema bar where they were serving Coopers and toilets were empty there. Spent most of the day at the Fenn Place stage which was great. Easy access to food, toilets, bar and the stage had great sight lines and sound.
Moved pretty easily from Deerhunter to LSF, lined up for a few minutes and only missed one song. I thought security did a good job by staggering people going into Fowlers. It was pretty crammed in there. Crowd surfing at a LSF show is not surprising. Let the kids have some fun.
I'm too old for kids having fun.
Needless to say I won't be going to another festival. I'll stick to interstate sideshows.
