coming soon on AAARRRGHHTTT

rigid  said about 1 year ago  or at  11:28AM on Wednesday, September 1 2010 in stupidity

we have been very busy recently, almost like a real label.

THE UNFUCKABLE ''Complication Meditation Class'' 7''

three songs from wipey and pals recorded while i was living with him in sydney in 2004. wipey sings. i can't play drums very well. we roped in australia's greatest r&r guitar player ever johnny casino and got him to play bass. no-posting chat swingin_man plays guitar. three songs, crude (in every sense) saints aping garage sputtle. black vinyl, 300 copies.

THE OOGA BOOGAS ''Sentimental Stranger / Eisbar'' 7''

the stranger is a sensitive ballad written by attorney at arms jonathan wilmott written during one of his frequents spells of drinking in the country. b-side is an outtake from the romance and adventure weekend, a cover of swiss new wave sensations grauzone, a song they dominated the german charts with in the summer of 1984. ask frankie teardrop, he'll tell you all about it. black vinyl, 300 copies.

THE UV RACE ''Homo'' LP/CD

did someone say maturity? give us til october for this one, it's just arrived at the pressing plant. many copies.

AWESOME X 2!

unvisible  said about 1 year ago:

This ''Coming Soon: The Unfuckable'' gag may the best long-running prank that Australian music has seen since those 6 or 7 unforgettable years of ''Dallas Crane: the Next Big Thing''

JudyDickslap  said about 1 year ago:

6 or 7 unforgettable years of ''Dallas Crane: the Next Big Thing''

Surely it didn't go on that long... did it?

scallywag  said about 1 year ago:

THE UNFUCKABLE ''Complication Meditation Class'' 7''

what are the other two tracks that made it onto the 7 ?

rigid  said about 1 year ago:

''day off'' and ''unfuckable''. if this one sells out we'll do another.

believe it or not, i actually have the vinyl in my possession and the covers are printed. they were cut the wrong size so i'm just waiting to get them back from the printers, recut to a size that will fit in the plastic sleeve.

Zac  said about 1 year ago:

i actually called in sick for work the other day and listened to Day Off on repeat.

cooper.  said about 1 year ago:

fantastic.

Ron  said about 1 year ago:

'ComplicatED Meditation Class' surely. Shirley? Wipey?

Re long-running Aus music pranks, I was going to say ''MARCUS IS COMING!'' but then I realised it might just be confusing.

wipey  said about 1 year ago:

Should we do a gig, Rigid?

rigid  said about 1 year ago:

yes we should wipey. i think swingin_man will be in melbourne in october for a couple of weeks.

wipey  said about 1 year ago:

Ubu  said about 1 year ago:

oort  said about 1 year ago:

did that knife fight 7'' ever come out?

Ubu  said about 1 year ago:

no. we're treating it with the same urgency that we treated the unfuckable with. it's scheduled for the next run to go to the pressing plant.

scallywag  said about 1 year ago:

are knife fight still active?

Ubu  said about 1 year ago:

yes and no. they are scattered across the globe...well, one of them is in melbourne, and 2 of them in wellington.

scallywag  said about 1 year ago:

i know the feeling.

oort  said about 1 year ago:

but that earthquake is literally bringing them closer. it's a sign.

Ron  said about 1 year ago:

It always depresses me to read ''your cart is empty''. Rub it in, why dontcha?

Ron  said about 1 year ago:

Also I look forward to seeing (and saying) oort on Aarght.

memphis  said about 1 year ago:

what band? or is it top secret, real record label business?

oort  said about 1 year ago:

oh it's a solo project with Ron on panflute & chimes, pretty mystical.

Ron  said about 1 year ago:

Like dry ice in an artificial Chinese garden.

rigid  said about 1 year ago:

Finally got the covers for Oogas and Unfuckable singles. They're here! Want em? They'll be in the shops in a couple of days. Or mail-order them by emailing aarghtrecords at gmail.

177 copies in Australia of each. The remaining 123 of each went to our USA distributor and are already sold out.

anonymous  said about 1 year ago:

today's a good day.

FrankieTeardrop  said about 1 year ago:

I want an Oogas single. I've been waiting for 'Eisbaer' to surface.

number_nine  said about 1 year ago:

Dear Rigid,

Do you envisage that either of these bands may get together in the near future to launch, and dare I say it celebrate these highly anticipated top shelf releases?

Thanks

#9

rigid  said about 1 year ago:

There is a chance of a celebratory gig for the Unfuckable in November but the Oogas single will remain Unlaunched.

FrankieTeardrop  said about 1 year ago:

Go on, play another pizza shop gig.

rigid  said about 1 year ago:

Maybe but we can't play til next year when Mikey returns.

oort  said about 1 year ago:

.... recently saw some electro/beats/hiphop/gig advertised at mario's pizza, aaarrrghhttt!!

memphis  said about 1 year ago:

AAARRRGHHTTT's totally branching out, i feel like the next natural step would be new orleans style marching band, and then on to sousa

rigid  said about 1 year ago:

Update:

Both singles are in all Melbourne stores. Interstate orders in the mail. We have a small handful left for mail-order - aarghtrecords.com

The UV Race album is now coming out on In The Red Records in the USA and Europe. Aarght! is going to do a run of 300 LPs like we did with the SW Horses. The band will release the CD themselves on Hidiotic Records. Congratulations UV Race!

oort  said about 1 year ago:

wow, would that make them the first oztraylian act to get an ITR release?

bamesjaker  said about 1 year ago:

I'm pretty sure ITR released Kim Salmon and the Surrealists' Hit Me With the Surreal Feel (some years after its original Australian release).

scallywag  said about 1 year ago:

memphis  said about 1 year ago:
