Scattered Order (Mitch Jones and Michael Tee) emerged as a noise making duo in 1979, coinciding with their foundation of the Sydney independent M Squared label . They have been releasing their take on post-punk ever since, with recordings on the M Squared, Volition, Rather be Vinyl, Klanggalerie and Vinyl on Demand labels. Stylistically they tended to shapeshift with each recording session and line up change. Experiments and accidents at the mixing desk, manipulation of tape, general knob-twiddling: these are the fun bits and pretty much the essence of Scattered Order.
With the renewed interest in post-punk and the M Squared label, 2009 saw the release of the M Squared artists compilation “Pardon me for barging in like this”, and the re-emergence of the original configuration of Scattered Order with the release of the “SO” CDr and live shows. In 2010 the band ventured back to Melbourne to play and promote the M Squared box set “Terrace Industry”. Their new album “Adjust the terminology” has just been completed, with the help of long serving bass player Craig Robertson, and will be available September 13 as a joint Klanggalerie - Rather be Vinyl release, in CD and digital formats.
“Scattered Order has always been about bending and treating a whole range of music sources and influences. Using the personnel and technology that is to hand we try to create music that sears your brain.” Mitch Jones 2009

Really looking forward to these shows. We are planning to do a different set each night. A combination of tracks from 'adjust the terminology', some old faves and a couple of new tunes.
This was pretty good until the lady made me leave.
Oh shit, this was last night, fuck I'm an idiot.
Collapsed Toilet Vietnam and SO together would be awesome!
It should be a collaborative set.
the tote shows friday hellza.
Yah. I won't use level 1 cache this time. See ya there.
The Bar Open show was pretty awesome. What I remember of it. I definately over indulged.
Is that Kidney?
I think it may be a relative of mine.
'carn get the tie dye out.
'Where the fucks the landcruiser mannnn!'
Well done on the poor attendance so far Melbourne. For a city to get 10,000+ to march for live music, and then blank on some on the most pioneering dudes in this country's history is pretty despicable. You have two days to improve.
Also if you miss Shane Fahey on Saturday playing an original EMS VCS3 synth you are an idiot.
Pioneering dudes have to keep pioneering to keep being thought of as pioneers.
I climbed Everest but I didn't stay up there, that was my greatest mistake.
that VCS3 is a beast and a half
I have $1.70 for 8 more days. If you can improve that then I'll come.
SGH, how many of those 10,000 people do you think actually know who Scattered Order are?
I wrote a feature about Scattered Order here. Get educated!
Well, would expect a similar crowd to those seeing Primitive Calcs no? Also a few notably absent M&N folks so far.
CL with Paul Rodgers doing a live VJ set tonight, so get there early (for the freshest tacos)
40 mins to go...last Scattered Order Show in Melbourne for a while.
Coming back down to Melb real soon!
awesome
