HEATHEN SKULLS are proud to present the return of Los Angele's most psychic hard rock ensemble, DEAD MEADOW. Now featuring their original drummer Mark Laughlin.
At the forefront of new psych revival, Dead Meadow have been jamming riffs since 1998 with a documented catalogue of five full lengths and one live record under their belts released on esteemed labels as Tolotto Records (owned by Joe Lally of Fugazi) and Matador.
A bit of trivia, Dead Meadow were the first band to record a Peel Session's out side of the BBC Studios, this was recorded in Fugazi's home studio, and their album ''Got live if you want it'' was produced by Brian Jonestown's Anton Newcomb, two note worthy notches on the old belt.
Now that you know their past, it's time to look to the future as this October Dead Meadow will be bringing their psychic review back to Australian soil.

Nadja!! Is it too early to ask whether they'll be doing any shows on their own?
they're playing their own show in perth, so it's more than likely goldy.
good to finally see a heathen skulls tour coming over here...
the lair?
wtf
They're actually from DC. I'm going.
I was going to start a thread about Nadja's tour, but this will do. Nadja are fucking awesome, and Dead Meadow aren't too shabby either.
Canadian ambient doom metal with a drum machine. I like it!!
...and yes, I do believe Nadja are playing some separate gigs as well. Somebody mentioned a show at The Tote in Melbourne.
yep Oct 10th @ The Tote and they are Canadians.
fucken canadians
Oh, thank god this was mentioned. The extra hundreds of people waiting outside the venue will only have themselves to blame.
fuckin eh
Tote with Acid King and Breathing Shrine. Should be immense.
doesn't look like the early show is on the metro's site, unless i'm blind
DEAD MEADOW & NADJA w/ Blarke Bayer // Black Widow = tour of the year!
Tour of the year = Heathen Skulls has done it again! oxoxoxox
Steve Kille is my dream man and I will refuse to let him leave the country without offering me his hand in unholy matrimony.
Genius!
Steve Kille is a comedian, one of the coolest and funniest people i know......
i love you heathen skulls
I'm just trying to keep the kids happy, touring bands i like and supporting the local scene, you know, the usual stuff.......
Thanks, see you at the show / shows.....
i think the kids would be HAPPIER to not have to sit through your music every fucking time you organise shows. i understand. it's fun. and you're promoting your label.
but c'mon. don't you think the punters AND the bands would benefit more from different supports other than yourself and your friends? you're presenting a very limited view of this country's music for people attending the shows and the bands touring.
fuck splitting hairs. i've seen this sort of self-serving behaviour too much. you're setting an example. i don't believe it to be a good one.
Well said, necktie.
Just turn up late, you snivelling little turds.

Being tired didn't stop them from being out drinking and dancing till 4am. Given the shenanigans that ensued, I think they might be a little worse for wear tonight, however.
I really enjoyed last night. It was different to the ''intimate'' show at the Nash, but still thoroughly enjoyable. AND HOW AMAZING WERE STIGMATA??!!
after a fair bit of excited anticipation, we decide do leave a few songs in. I was expecting them to be laid back so no surprises there, but the mix was shithouse. I reeeeallly wanted to ask the mixer dude to turn down the ''rock stadium kick drum'' dial and wind up the ride and toms so it sounded remotely like the album(s).
It always bums me out when a mellow band gets mixed as if they're metallica... perhaps he was still in Stigmata mode (who did a wonderful job of bringing a little Judas Priest to the table)
PS. I also want to applaud you Mr Heathen Skulls for bringing the awesome-est bands to town. You're a true saint... any chance of a Sleep reunion booking? Matt will be here for Soundwave...
YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES!!!!!
(please)
Agreed about the mix, I was standing right behind the mixer and he looked perplexed the whole way though...got better at the end, or maybe just louder
The bass didn't sound too crash hot, but I couldn't work out if it was just because of where I was standing (right in front of Steve Kille.)
I mix at the Forum was pretty average but last night at the Lair was one of the worst mixes I've ever heard. It was still a good show and Dead Meadow rocked it but is that much to ask that they sound check and sort the levels out?
they did sound check for quite a while. the mix sounded better when they were playing than it did when they soundchecked. soundie couldnt get anything more out of that awful PA, and the mixing desk was shoved up in the rafters to the left of the stage, making it nearly impossible to communicate anything. i thought they did a good job considering all of that
Mmm, weirdly up on the balcony behind the band sounded amazing, really clear, perfect balance, great reverb bouncing off the back wall...
I was standing two rows back dead centre and all I could hear was drums, guitar and some faint vocals. If someone had told me that it sounded better on the balcony I would have moved :)
I was at the front at one stage and I couldn't hear anything coming out of the foldback wedges either, was there any foldback at all? The drummer was complaining that he couldn't hear any guitar.
There was nothing for the first song and a half, then it came good and it also cut out at the end completely.
There were a couple of wedges pointing right at where we were standing, so that gave us a good vocal sound over the onstage sound I guess.
I managed to have a damn good time at the Saturday set, despite sound issues. Guys put on a good show.
not as good as it was out in the sun at atp, but still sweet. just a shame it wasn't at a better venue. the crawlspace under my stairs is a better venue than the lair.
i have to say, i absolutely loved Stigmata. their song ''march of the saints'' was a killer!!! how awesome were the guitar solos? \m/ \m/ does anyone know whether they will be performing again in Melbourne ? or were they here for just that gig ?
they told me they were just here for that gig, but wanna come back.
you know those guys?? :O i searched online and couldnt find their tracks. i badly want to listen to march of the saints again!! i checked their myspace link - Stigmata Myspace , but sadly that track isnt there :( do you know how i can get my hands on their albums ? =/
This is Stigmata's setlist from their Melbourne gig.
1. Andura
2. Spiral Coma
3. Purer (Libera Nos A Malo)
4. Jazz Theory
5. The Summoning Cry Of Aries
6. March Of The Saints
thanks carbie! i just got the link to download them!! you can get them by clicking here
Great show at Fowler's last night, I liked Dead Meadow better than at ATP. Hadn't heard Nadja before and thought they were excellent.
