Cool

mulligan  said about 1 year ago:

His more electronic stuff ain't so good but this is his acoustic instrumental stuff. Incidentally he also did an album with Rowland s Howard a while ago. Be keen to hear a copy of that.

Simon_Sez  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah, I heard rumours of his solo stuff a while back but never followed up on it. I was thinking he'd go down the Robert Fripp/Mahavishnu Orchestra road, acoustic never really crossed my mind. Im not gonna source it now either, just going to wait for the night and see!

Rowland, hey? That would be interesting.

![](Incidentally he also did an album with Rowland s Howard a while ago. Be keen to hear a copy of that.)

What??? Never heard of this...

Evilio  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah, they were quite close back in the day. I believe they did some acoustic work together, though I don't believe anything was released (aside from Alienation on Rollins spoken word album).

FrankieTeardrop  said about 1 year ago:

I'll be there! Just the supports alone are enticing me. Frightening Lights and Scratchplate on the same bill = pleasure centre overstimulation.

zeroman  said about 1 year ago:

This sounds like an excellent night out. Frightening lights are rad and the rollins guitarist knows his shit.

rosevich  said about 1 year ago:

any Sydney dates do you know?

firewitch  said about 1 year ago:

he lives in ACT (well he did a few years ago when i met him) so i'm sure you could book hima gig easy enough.

NATC  said about 1 year ago:

Currently the only confirmed Sydney date is a free show on Saturday 29th August, downstairs @ The Sando with Blackie and Bow Campbell. There's also a show in Canberra at Front Gallery on Thursday 19th August which is $5 entry. There may be a couple more in both Sydney and Melbourne. Will post as they confirm.

CHRIS HASKETT (USA, ex ROLLINS BAND)
Ex Rollins Band (Do It and End Of Silence era) guitarist Chris Haskett is heading to Australia this month, and will play an intimate solo show at Yah Yah’s next Sunday 22 August. Catch the acclaimed guitarist/producer will play tracks over his accomplished career. Beginning in the richly creative environment of Washington DC in the late 1970s where he was a member of seminal no-wave/hardcore band The Enzymes through to the 80s and 90s as the guitarist in the mighty Rollins Band, Chris Haskett has always been uncompromising and fearless as both a player and a composer. Currently Chris is pursuing an acoustic project which shows the marked influence of such divergent sources as John Fahey, Leo Kottke, John Cale and Harry Partch as well as Indian master guitarist Debashish Bhattacharya. Hatchett has been described as ''blues without reading the washing instructions''. Catch him play a special early gig at Yah Yah’s this Sunday.

Evilio  said about 1 year ago:

Any chance of getting some set times? Preferably for Chris, and for Frightening Lights? I'm assuming 9pm and 11pm?

Thanks for any help!

liamsnice  said about 1 year ago:

You are reasonably correct. I would rock up at 8.30 to be safe.

Evilio  said about 1 year ago:

Cheers for that, much appreciated.

Simon_Sez  said about 1 year ago:

Tonight!!

liamsnice  said about 1 year ago:

kuroneko  said about 1 year ago:

Is Scratchplate still playing this show?

liamsnice  said about 1 year ago:

I'm afraid not. At least I don't think so.

FrankieTeardrop  said about 1 year ago:

I'm piking on this, unfortunately. I love Frightening Lights. And I hope Scratchplate will grace a stage again soon.

pagey  said about 1 year ago:

i'm piking too as i am too sick to leave the house. but mr pagey is down there, no doubt fanboy drooling all over chris haskett as we type.

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

If I hadn't had to ride home for 75mins in that fucking weather, I'd so be there.. another day.

liamsnice  said about 1 year ago:

Frightening lights obviously had the same ideas, they also decided not to turn up which is nice.

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

Ouch, that sucks balls.

zeroman  said about 1 year ago:

Has Chris played yet?

tigers  said about 1 year ago:

was meant to start at 9 i thought. Really wish i was well enough to attend this.

Simon_Sez  said about 1 year ago:

He was awesome! And really goddamn nice fella to boot.

No Scratchplate, no Frightening Lights. Chris headlined.

Some people, however, shouldn't drink all that much. I am one of these people.

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

Haha, glad I stayed home, I was only going for Scratchplate and Frightening Lights action.. I would have drank myself into a slumped physique.
