when did terence trent d'arby join?
zing
Racist!
Clockwise from top left:
Jon King - vocals and microwave destruction
Mark Heaney - drums
Thomas McNiece - bass
Andy Gill - guitar and vocals
Been this line-up since November 2006
it's more dreadist, than racist.
I wanna wanna want!
There better be a decent show happening in Melbourne. Recent footage of Gang Of Four still looks and sounds brilliant. Dig this: At Home He's A Tourist. Andy Gill owns that shit!
Midnight Oil meets Gang Of Four
I saw them in 2006 - incredible. Intense, heavy bass, heavy groove, splintery guitar, proper menacing, really exciting and awesome.
Amazing news!
i saw them last year, they're still awesome :)
!!!!!!!!!!!!!
booyah
i am a bit wary of going and seeing old legends dusted off
but i must say that clip frankie posted is fairly convincing
jon & andy still school everyone reeeeeeally fuckin hard.
''school''?
yeah, when they're playing pay attention cause schools in session? i couldn't name any ''young'' band that'd match their menace & intensity, period.
match* come anywhere even close.
Awesome.
v excited
i found that clip of 'at home he's a tourist' really horrible. It didn't sound like the Gang of Four I remember. It sounded like a stadium rock band playing a Gang of Four song.
Gill's guitar still sounded badarse but that was all that could keep from puking.

Wire's recent visit turned me off going to see this. Sounds like this was a poor decision. Wish they'd do another show.
that's funny as for me, Wire made me buy a ticket to this but much ass I enjoyed both, G o 4 had a much more give the fans what they want attitude. Wire were more in their own world. botrh have their advantages.
Argh I didn't see you Outerspace! Yes I was having the time of my life. Killer show.
Great photos Ben.
My review of the Gang Of Four's Melbourne show is up now at The Vine.
It came out in September 1979
Oh well, there ya go. The copyright on my copy of the album said 1980. Three months hardly makes a difference.
And deduct 10 points for the use of the word ''jagged'' .
But I used it in the context of post-punk cliches, Block.
Shoud've chucked in ''sparse'', ''atmospheric'' & ''Thatcher'' as well.
''Angular'' better have been in there,
Sorry. Maybe I'll use ''angular'' next time I review Love Of Diagrams or something.
WOW GOF SO GOOD
compared to Slayer and everyone else at soundwave they really stuck out
best sound of the day as well cant wait for the solo show
ok, i used 'jagged' in the interview. but c'mon, 30 years ago they were the band who defined 'jagged'.
and 'thatcher'? well, that's just an expletive of the time.
The Melvins wanted to do their Sidewave shows with GOF but were made to do Primus. Shame...
I can't imagine Melvins and Gang Of Four working well together. I really can't.
what?! It would have been awesome
Yeah would have ruled.
Gang Of Four solo show in Perth
