Mo  said about 1 year ago  or at  11:52AM on Thursday, August 5 2010 in chat

i agree, sackable

Mo  said about 1 year ago:

well it was really quite antagonistic to Muslims - now i am an an agnostic

HOWEVER culturally and by birth - i am Muslim

so.... could this be bullying?

i don't want to get them busted anyways, i just think its completely inappropriate

happycow  said about 1 year ago:

Get them sacked, go on Mo.

MissAustralia2003  said about 1 year ago:

was it sent to you only or to a group email? either way you should deal quickly and directly with the sender.

go and talk with them, explain your opinion, get them to agree they are stupid, get them to email an apology, then kill them

Mo  said about 1 year ago:

nah i don't want anyone fired, rather than exclude them, i am going to try and engage them in discussion about it

but i did respond to the email with facts that refute what it says in the email and links to government sources

it was a group email but i was included - anyways just wondering if there were legalities surrounding this

rigid  said about 1 year ago:

just say ''hey mate, i am a curry muncher, and a fucken proud one at that. you better fucken watch who you send that shit to. or i'll bash ya.''

Mo  said about 1 year ago:

nothing to be proud of, my great great grandparents fucked there, that's about it... i always think it would be better to be proud of how i treat people than where my ancestors rooted

fuck don't i sound like a tosser LOL

anyways thanks for the info folks

rigid  said about 1 year ago:

that's ok mo. i just like to fight stupidity with more stupidity.

Mo  said about 1 year ago:

speaking of stupidity

i might just have to listen to the stupids

u a fan rigid?

SheikYerbouti  said about 1 year ago:

It's all down to whether or not there is a policy which prohibits it, and if they've agreed to it.
if you have no official policy, they haven't breached a policy. If they haven't breached a policy, it's hard to take action apart from saying that their actions were generally antisocial, and how you go with that depends on HR...

I blindingly smartarse, funny and concise retort, displaying to everyone what a moronic fucknuckle he is, is my favourite option.

rigid  said about 1 year ago:

i really liked that first lp they had, back in the day. i revisited a decade later though and found the songs lacking, though i still liked their spasticitude. i think i sold it. might have to download it for another listen.

Mo  said about 1 year ago:

i just got that record again recently - same situation as you, i don't find them AS good as i used to, but i love their boneheadedness

dnzr  said about 1 year ago:

dude if they are that moronic, be even more moronic back.

''find'' allah, go into the team room and make yourself a headscarf from tea towels, and an explosive vest from old toilet rolls and foil.

then sit next to them at lunch, stare at them muttering ''infidel'' and answer every question with ''Ahkba Allah''.

So a old dude heard me saying ''Jesus Chirst'' and told my supervisor.
My supervisor said the dude totes over react but asked me to try to avoid saying it around him. So I sent him an email:

Subject: Clarification

Dear old dude,

I do apologise for my bad habit of saying ''Jesus Christ'' when I'm excited. As a Ex-born again Christian I should have known better.

I do respect all religions and ideas. It is a good lesson for me and a good reminder that I should put my thought into action.

On the other hand, I would appreciate if you could cease explaining what is a ''Chinaman Throw'' to me, telling me that someone is using a ''Chinaman Throw'' at the Cricket Game or/and showing me how to do a ''Chinaman Throw''.

I honour your passion in sport but the word ''Chinaman'' is a improper and dated word and slightly uncomfortable in the ears, especially for someone who has a Chinese background.

Best Regards,
tugboat

Thanks, tugboat.

Like yourself, I respect all religions and cultures and have been fortunate to have visited over 20 other countries. The last cultures I'd want to offend are Asian cultures - I have an adopted daughter from Korea and my son has a gorgeous Hong Kong Chinese girlfriend.

Ironically, they stopped a description in cricket some years ago along the lines of '...the ball is going Irish...' which meant it curved the opposite way in its flight. The authorities might have to do the same with the Chinese description.

You might find, for your information too, that Australians often use the word bastard, which is a terrible insult to someone from another culture, but it's not an insult here. It's often used between friends! I don't use it, knowing this, but remember we don't always know that something that seems harmless to us could well be very insulting to someone from elsewhere.

Whilst I'm personally more than prepared to delete this cricket description here, especially, I don't know how we can make cricket authorities to delete Chinaman. I understand that it's inappropriate if you say it is.

Thanks for pointing this out.

I can't see the relevance between this example and the usage of ''Chinaman''.
''Chinaman'' to Chinese is equal to the N word for Africans. Imagine how our African Co-workers feel if you use the N word here, a workplace with Africans.

Thank you for being sensible.

As I said, tugboat, for your information (in case you run across it. Here's hoping you don't)!

Unfortunately, another agent near me used the F word several times a few minutes ago, but I'm letting it go for now, as it's a bit out of character for him. I'd certainly NEVER use the N word word to an African, especially when I love jazz and have met the late great and phenomenal jazz pianist Oscar Peterson! I've been insulted in other countries as an Australian, so I know what it's like.

Thanks,

old dude

I know that ha... F bomb is everywhere but i guess we are okay with it however not the N word.

I understand you would never use the N word so I use the N word as an obvious example so you understand why we should use ''Chinaman'' too. cos everyone knows the proper word is Chinese.

No Biggie~

as much as i hate overt racism and stuff the thing that most shits me is when people refuse to look at the real facts. i love me some conspiracy theories but when an idea doesn't stand up to scrutiny you need to dismiss it.

Ganeasha Villas is awesome. Very awesome.

yoghurt  said about 1 year ago:

The whole ''they take our jobs'' jargon has been around for ever and been proven wrong so many times. It was in print in early colonial Australian days about the Chinese, and even other europeans and some how these unionist fuckwits still think its relevant.

I guess the arguement has slightly changed to ''stealing our dole money''

Block  said about 1 year ago:

Me and some other people at my workplace (and a bunch of others in the same industry) got one of these from a business contact recently.
One of the managers at my work wrote a really polite but forceful email back to the boss of the guy who sent it, pointing out exactly how fucked it was, and also being quite clear it breached a bunch of our internal policies.
The sender then sent out a lame ''But some of my best friends are Asian'' thing. Didn't help- he lost his job. Though he wasn't very good at it anyway, and I think this was the final straw for his employers.

Mo  said about 1 year ago:

so after replying to everyone who forwarded that email, no calls, no return emails to discuss

how disappointing
