Louie

This show that's just started on FX in the States is hilarious. Starring stand up comedian Louis CK portraying a version of himself (similar to Curb in that respect).

It's kind of like if Woody Allen was non-Jewish, tall, red headed, more vulgar and made a TV show. Great shots of New York and fantastic original soundtrack by Reggie Watts

Anyone else watching? Just watched the 5th episode. So great.

Great show!

Also love the ballsiness, almost every episode has an idea aiming for than just funny.

Thought Ricky Gervais' cameo kinda sucked though.

kazpatafta  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah I'm with ya on the Gervais role. Pretty pointless.

Not big on the Seinfeld-esque stand up bits but yeah as a whole it's quite unlike anything I've seen before which is refreshing

goldfoot  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah, I've watched the first 4 episodes. There's something that is annoying me about it though but I can't really work out what it is yet. Like I said in this thread it feels like it's trying too hard to be contoversial.

this show is so good.

normally i'm indifferent to ricky gervais but i thought he was hilarious in episode 3.

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

good shit this.

goldfoot  said about 1 year ago:

Interesting that ep 5 took a turn into more surrealist style comedy. I think the writers are still trying to work out what they want the show to be.

orange_blossoms  said about 1 year ago:

Just seen a couple of these myself. Had me crying with laughter in parts, although some scenes with all his friends sitting round a table just jivin' irked me. Too much 'bloke' for me. Loved Gervais!

Overall, fan of this

orange_blossoms  said about 1 year ago:

this is seriously hilarious. check it people

only got one episode left to watch, sad. that one about the crucifiction was intense.

Excellent look at an episode of Louis' previous HBO show that got cancelled and of his work in general.](http://www.avclub.com/articles/lucky-louie-kim-moves-out,53266/)

Pamela Adlon's daughter did a good job.

astralwerkor  said about 8 months ago:

so who caught him melbourne? i begged my way into the show with the woman at the ticketmaster counter, and it was fucking hilarious. incisive and just plain gross all in the same sentence.

boner m.  said about 8 months ago:

seeing him tonight; that's what i like to hear, astral

mrmagoo  said about 8 months ago:

it was non stop brilliance in Melbourne

Elias, Lions, Gene Hackman, etc

moribunderast  said about 8 months ago:

Yeah, was a fantastic show, close to the best stand-up I've ever seen live. Can't believe he came down here, really. Good on him. And good on the nervous Melbourne support act (who went on before Tom Gleeson at the 9:30 show) for lucking his way into such a sweet gig. Guy would've been stoked!

CaptainHowdy  said about 8 months ago:

i saw the 9:30 melbourne show and thought it was excellent too. dark, obscene, honest, hilarious. louis is brilliant.

i'd forgotten tom gleeson opened until just now. he was completely dismal.

moribunderast  said about 8 months ago:

''My wife spends soooo money! Why do women do that, amirite fellas?'' (paraphrased Gleeson set)

At least I wasn't all laughed out by the time Louis got on stage. Maybe Tom was doing us a service by being so pedestrian?

moribunderast  said about 8 months ago:

er, ''soooooo much money'' would be the paraphrasing I meant to do. As you were.

slothman  said about 8 months ago:

tom gleeson wasn't that bad. i had some yucks. louis was fucking funny as shit. the stuff about his family background was... something else. i had the good fortune to be sitting behind a guy as fat as louie said he wanted to get. glad i didn't see him in the toilet.

i liked the way he showed up in the lobby after the show shaking hands, answering questions and taking photo's with the punters. what a pro!

orange_blossoms  said about 8 months ago:

Athenaeum show was brilliant! I laughed so hard I was in pain, and lost my voice as a result. I still have a husky sore throat as a result. Non stop laughs, what a pro indeed.

I love Pamela Adlon! She should be on Twitter.

Louis CK learns about the Catholic Church

I wonder why the Telegraph missed an opportunity to do a an indignant story about this filthy comedian being allowed to perform on the hallowed stage of the Opera House.

celluloid hero  said about 8 months ago:

yeah i had the same thought. on one hand, thank fuck no one did - on the other, it wouldn't have made a bit of difference.

slothman  said 10 days ago:

from an email Louis sent out

''...my show LOUIE (season 3 premieres on June 28th at 10:30pm)...''

also you can buy a bunch of his older standup stuff at louisck.com

mud  said 9 days ago:

The standup album he put out, 'Word,' has about half of the same material from the Aus tour last year. It's quite good!
