Bouncer incident at The Tote

A girl i'm friends with copped a punch in the face once at Beck's Festival Bar too. Though apparently she wasn't even drunk/argumentative, not sure what happened there.

I remember once getting kicked out of a place (really needlessly, it was literally for bopping my head in a queue to get into a gig), and the guy was getting such a kick out of it. Out of nowhere he twisted my arm behind my back and shoved me through a room and out onto the street. I think a lot of bouncers are thugs looking for violence... there seems to be no accountability at all in the industry.

There is no provocation for a big burly bouncer to punch a small blonde girl in the face. He is employed to stand in the way of the door and not let her through and give her a wry smile while she's mouthing off and call the police if she doesn't go away.

I wasn't condoning the bouncer's action, just pointing out that there was a lead-up to it, unlike the incidents esquared described. Given that, this guy will probably get off with a warning.

I agree some bouncers seem to be on a power trip, they are generally not smartest of individuals.

What a cunt of a thing to say! Whilst there may be some fuckwit bouncers out there you will also find fuckwits in every type of employment going. Some people are just fuckwits. There is also a LOT of awesome guards out there who put up with an amazlingly large amount of bullshit from fuckwit drunks. These guys get abused more than anyone I know so go easy. I in no way condone what happened on this night though.

Briefly, to set the record straight:

Drunk, angry girl gets argy at the bouncers after refused entry after chucking racist slurs at the bouncers, charges the door, punches the security guard twice in the face and no he did not hit her in the face. Cops have reviewed all the CCTV footage and they are satisifed.

I told one of the bar staff what had happened, he was shocked, none of the bouncers had told any if the staff what was going on.

Managers were aware. Some bar staff hadn't been told because they were doing their jobs busy pouring beers and managers were dealing with the cops.

I pointed out the offender and bar dude said it was his first night.

Bullshit. I was standing right next to you when you were talking to him and the bar dude did not say that. This security dude is awesome.

i told hin the cops were on their way and he quickly got on the phone to someone.

He got on the intercom to the manager who was upstairs with the cops at the time.

God I love internet rumours.

Cops have said that if any charges are to be laid, it's against the girl.

OMG, she was blonde? Are blonde girls weaker and less able to defend themselves? This flies in the face of all I know about aryan superiority.

The whole point of asking about it was to get some answers, no need to get pissy. I told things exactly as I saw them and also appreciate hearing another side of the story. This isn't about spreading vicious rumors, the Tote is my favorite pub in the world. Why would I not be trying to find out what happened having seen that?

There were other people there who saw her getting hit and said as much. If she didn't it sure looked like it. Footage doesn't lie though and if it was all her then charge her.

And yes, bar guy did tell me it was his first night. That's such an irrelevant and inconsequential part of the story, why would I make that up?

If it's your favourite pub in the world and you want to know what happened, why not just call the place to find out instead of pushing some bogus comments online for shock factor? Just sayin'.

They weren't bogus facts at all, that was my exact recount of the night and everything I said actually happened. The ONLY point of contention is whether he hit her or vice versa and from my vantage point it looked like he hit her. I am willing to admit I got it wrong but that's nonetheless what I saw.

I don't go around posting bullshit for shock's sake. If my post appeared 'shocking' it's because I was genuinely shocked.

I think we need to all calm down. There is no reason to let an ugly incident upset us and divide us. This place is normally a peaceful and supportive community.

Last night at the Tote a bouncer said to me, ''Oi, Block, you need to put that in plastic'', and offered me an empty pint glass to put my beer in. He then took my empty glass and stowed it away neatly before waving me through to the band room.
No one got punched.

From where I was when the incident happened it appeared as though the bouncer hit the chick, a couple of girls who were also leaving said they thought that's what they saw too, but it appears this is NOT what happened and I feel stupid for throwing support behind a racist trying to cause trouble.

What it seems I saw was the bouncer putting his arms out in front of him while she rushed into him. If I wasn't so adamant that I saw what I did I wouldn't have posted anything. I've witnessed plenty of cockhead bouncers at good venues in the past and believed this was another case but it wasn't.

Racism is just as bad as violence and if this girl has indeed stirred a bunch of shit, been a racist cunt and lied to the police about what has happened I hope she gets charged for it.

back in the days of the old TOTE I was kicked out by the hugest bouncer I've encountered in my life for refusing to stop firing a cap gun in the front bar.

After chilling outside for a few minutes, I realised I didn't want to leave yet so I pulled my jumper over my head and crawled around on my hands and knees through the door knowing the massive guy was way to tall to notice something small on the carpet from that height for another half an our and even had the gall to drink a pint half underneath the pool table.
