GENTLE BEN & HIS SENSITIVE SIDE at the Tote this Sat night

The Tote  said about 1 year ago  or at  4:26PM on Tuesday, July 13 2010 in events

Gentle Ben & His Sensitive Side (Only Melbourne Show*) + Precious Jules + Romance are playing the Tote THIS Saturday 17 July.

.....If David Bowie and Johnny Cash had a sexy knife fight with Gene Pitney and Jonathon Richman in a Central American cathouse, it might go something like this...
On July 17th, Brisbane’s inimitable Gentle Ben and his Sensitive Side thrust their flailing heartbreak into the warm confines of the Tote for one very special night. Featuring members of 6FtHick and David McCormack and the Polaroids, Gentle Ben and his Sensitive Side will showcase tunes from their forthcoming album “Magnetic Island”, on which alcoholic isolation explodes into violence and regret at the drop of a guitar pick.
This is a rare Melbourne performance from the exotic flightless bird that is Gentle Ben and his Sensitive Side. See them before they’re hunted out of existence.....

I highly endorse this event. Even more so if Gentle Ben disrobes on stage (which, if past experiences are anything to go by, shouldn't be too far out of the question.)

Excellent to hear that they're still around, haven't heard anything for ages. They need to come back to Adelaide! One of the best live bands around. Loved the last album too.

Gentle Ben 11.30

registradus  said about 1 year ago:

hmmm probly won't be able to make it to the bottle o after gentle ben then...

ffarff, esq  said about 1 year ago:

girlie wasnt in the band tonight. Neither was Trevor Ludlow. That threw me.

I was mega impressed by Kim Salmon's drummer. That guy didn't break a sweat while bashing away. Amazing!

registradus  said about 1 year ago:

That was great. Trevor Ludlow hasn't been in the band for AGES. But he is in the crowd.

They sounded really good as a four piece.

And Precious Jules were amazing. Nearly my favourite Kim Salmon gig so far.

Butcher Birds  said about 1 year ago:

they havent had a girl in the band for ages? maybe you're talking about kate from texas tea, i think she played harmonium with them for a while and sang a bit.

Block  said about 1 year ago:

This was a fine evening of entertainment. Three great bands, plenty of folks, and I made Taco Girl giggle.
Note to all those who hung out in the front bar in the early part of the evening, and so missed Romance and Precious Jules- sucks to be you.

ffarff, esq  said about 1 year ago:

that would be who i was thinking of.
I didnt realise trevor had left but now he lives in Melbourne, right? so it makes sense.

id like to see Romance again.

soula  said about 1 year ago:

yes trevor lives in melbourne. you would have found out if you went to see david mccormack last time he played at the thornbury theatre...;)
