holy wow! the thought of rob lowe ever coming to aus had never crossed my mind. had no idea he was part of OM. heathen - can you post times for the toff when they come to hand? i'll be scrambling there after something else, i think.

just saw there's something happening at sunshine & grease on thursday night too. does anyone have times for friday?

runoutgroove  said about 1 year ago:

I know these questions are boring but...could someone please post details of door charge and playing times if possible? I wouldn't be able to get there until after 10pm.

Seconded!

Just rang the Sando and they say it's $10, and that 8pm is the only time info they have. (Though with three bands before Lichens, I'd be surprised if he was on before 10.)

Lichens is playing tonight / Tuesday 20th of July @ Sandringham Hotel (Sydney) with Blarke Bayer // Black Widow, Summonus and Justice Yeldham. Entry is $15 and capacity is 150.
For some reason it's listed somewhere that he's playing the Red Rattler, this is untrue, it's the Sandringham.

Lichens is also playing at The Tote on Friday 23rd of July, this is his final Australia show!
Special guests are: Pikelet, Mick Turner w/ Jeffery Wagner & Ian Wadley, Cocks Arquette and Black Widow.
Entry is $15, doors are at 8.

My partner saw the Adelaide gig. Said Lichens was amazing and left everyone stunned.

esquared  said about 1 year ago:

Bloody great, pretty pissed that the first half of the set was OVERPOWERED BY FUNK though. Rob and Ben played a cracker too.

jimm  said about 1 year ago:

Oh man, quasi religious experience!

Lichens was amazing and left everyone stunned.

Yeah, it was beautiful before he opened his mouth but when he started singing I was transfixed for the rest of the night. It's an immensely physical performance, one that feels deeply personal or profoundly spiritual or something else, I don't feel I can do it justice.

I might try to write more after all the shows have happened, I don't want to ruin the magic by listing everything that he does in a lame attempt to convey how special it was.

I'd really, really recommend the remaining shows to people in melbourne. One of my most unexpected musical highlights of the year.

anok  said about 1 year ago:

will try to get to the tote on friday. excuse my stupidity re: the toff date:/

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

Didn't go because the Lichens record I have (on Kranky) is pretty shit.

CaptainFez  said about 1 year ago:

Lichens = awesome. Last night's set was even better than the Om support - big droney synths layered to the point where the upstairs cut-out switch was in danger of kicking on. Niiiice.

What a lovely feller, too.

That Melbs gig will be FUCKEN AWESOME.

Ko Ket  said about 1 year ago:

At Sunshine and Grease this Thursday with others. Doors @ 8pm, $7. Cool.

FrankieTeardrop  said about 1 year ago:

Lichens/Wadley at Sunshine & Grease last night was great. Hypnotic and rambling. Sweet and sour. It was a bit hard to see with tall people like A. Wallace and Hellzapoppin cluttering up my visual field, but the sound was impressive. I liked Actual Holes as well. Saxophones really are the new loop pedals.

rawr  said about 1 year ago:

true.

anok  said about 1 year ago:

wondering if the band name 'actual holes' was inspired by some smutty hellza rant.

The Tote  said about 1 year ago:

Tonight at the Tote.

LICHENS (USA) + PIKELET + MICK TURNER & JEFFREY WAGNER & IAN WADLEY + COCKS ARQUETTE

Ben  said about 1 year ago:

I loved that show.

Ben  said about 1 year ago:

fullonidle  said about 1 year ago:

yeah, nice shot Ben. I'm still thinking about how 'deep' that Tote performance was...Did anyone else get the tour CDR? fantastic sounds and I usually avoid CDR's
