Lost Dog - Thornbury

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago  or at  1:31PM on Tuesday, June 29 2010 in chat

Hello everyone,

My lovely dog Xinli has escaped during the storm last night, fence palings torn out, and I'm freaking the fuck out.

I've called the Lost Dogs Home and all the local vets, but if anyone happens to come across him by chance please call me on 0407 150 486.

He is a super friendly desexed male about 1 year old.

Thanks,
Hellza.

going for a few walks later hellza... will keep an eye out.

need a hand putting signs up?

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

I'm waiting till the afternoon for signs. The Lost Dogs Home stated that Darebin council don't call past with their pick ups for the day until 4ish, I'm hoping like mad they have him in their possession. I rang the council up but they won't even look in their temporary shelter which really pisses me the fuck off.

Thanks though Svelte xo

svelteslacks  said about 1 year ago:

not a problem... keep us updated cause jnr and i can cover more area with you if need be. poor little fella. fingers crossed he turns up in the 4pm drop offs. xx.

what type of dog is it? I really hope you find him. I will keep an eye out!

kuroneko  said about 1 year ago:

He is a super friendly dog. I reckon someone will find him - definitely check the council later and put up signs for the neighbourhood - he'll be sniffin' around somewhere.

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

I'm not entirely sure, he's a rescue from a pound in Mildura, a bitza. Possibly somewhere between a Kelpie/Dingo with a slight Alsatian in the face/ears. I really don't know breeds well.

Ben  said about 1 year ago:

cute!

Hope he turns up soon

fzchk  said about 1 year ago:

fingers crossed!

MissAustralia2003  said about 1 year ago:

poor little one. hope he's found soon, he's probably kicking back playing cards in a warm hound saloon somewhere and will return home when he's out of chips or hungry.

If not please put a link to the flyer you make on here so anyone can print it off and put up signs if they're near Thornbury?

josejones  said about 1 year ago:

give the local vets a call too. sometimes people take 'em in to vets when they can't be fucked ringing the lost dogs or taking them home.

hope he's found soon!

tugboat  said about 1 year ago:

Good luck with the Dog, Hellza!
Hope he's come soon!

MissAustralia2003  said about 1 year ago:

PS - if he's microchipped and registered then fear not, they just wand over his ear and your details come up!

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

Been driving around the area with no luck :[

Rang all the vets within 10kms this morn and left my details. He is microchipped, so if he appears that will see him home safe sooner.

There is a pdf of the flyer up here.

I feel fucking miserable and so worried. FUCK!!!!!!!!

steveholt  said about 1 year ago:

Hard not to be worried but fair chance he'll come home when he's hungry.

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

Lost dogs home have 5 dogs arriving in an hour from my council, hoping like fucking mad he is one of them :[

Goal attack  said about 1 year ago:

fingers crossed

ill  said about 1 year ago:

keep us all updated. we are all hoping for you. shout out if you need any serach party help.

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

Just heard from the lost dogs home and he arrived via the council 30mins ago. So very relieved! Knowing Xinli he's had the time of his life. They said he was fit, healthy and doing fine. Can't pick him up till tomorrow though which is a bit sad.

Turns out the council had been trying to find me via the microchip, but the shelter which I'd grabbed him from had never changed the information on the central database. Hence, once scanned, he comes up as being owned by them. Will be changing that in the morning!!

Thanks for the kind words everyone xo

There was a storm last night? I must have been well out.

Glad you found your dog Hellza.

josejones  said about 1 year ago:

best news i've heard all day.

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

It's the wind, he's rather terrified of it. I had him in my room till about 3am, but he sleeps outside. He's freaked out at some point and clawed one of the fence posts off. Spent this arvo reinforcing all of them.

Just so happy to know he's safe.

I love happy endings (where dogs are concerned).

I was wondering why you named him after this woman. She seems cool, though.

Knowing Xinli he probably crawled under someone's BMW for shelter, got distracted by the differential and pulled it off with his teeth and dragged it up and down the driveway until the pound collected him.

kuroneko  said about 1 year ago:

Great news. Xinli's a sensitive furry soul and I could see how he'd get spooked.
More pets should be microchipped or tagged.

hardtop  said about 1 year ago:

Yes, very good news, glad he's safe.

Fred Dag  said about 1 year ago:

I saw this and hoped it was about me; Fred Dag, I fucked off from Liam's house at some stage during the storm last night too. We were hanging down by the Merri chasing tail. Liam was shitting himself all day waiting for 6 to come around too once I had finally checked in and could make a call. Told him to let my housemate Brian know there was a party at 2 Gracie St in North Melbourne tonight with some fellow Thornbury Thrashers

That's essentially how I expected to find him as well, just more with a shock absorber wedged between his teeth in some kind of pogo stick feedback loop.

FrankieTeardrop  said about 1 year ago:

Good to hear Xinli has been found. I was stuck in the wilds of Gembrook, otherwise I would have joined the search. Best anarcho-pup ever!

Gorn  said about 1 year ago:

Great news. Sorry been working Hellza.

tugboat  said about 1 year ago:

Great news, hellza :-)

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

Thanks again everyone :]

He's home, safe and sound. Grabbed him a Kong as a welcome back present, thinks that is the grandest thing ever.

Give me a yell when you're at work next Gorn and I'll troop down for a brew.

humanityisthedevil  said about 1 year ago:

Missed this completely - glad to read he's back home.

Xinli's a bloody champ, and so is his best mate.
