Your controversial musical opinions.

noneabove  said about 1 year ago  or at  4:44PM on Sunday, June 6 2010 in music

The opinions that make your friends stop and stare at you in mid-conversation, or that will get you banned from social events in certain circles. That confuse your peers and make no sense to your loved ones.

I'll go first.

I don't think Lou Reed or the Velvet Underground are actually very good. I think Lou is vastly overrated as a songwriter and a guitarist. I like almost every one of those thousand bands who started because of the Velvet Underground, but I think they're actually guff.

Your turn.

Muse is alright. I saw them at BDO2010 and they were pretty impressive. I was pissed later how much firworks they had in their show when I was at another stage. Thought they totally lost the plot. But it was actually the 100th BDO celebrations.

'Be Here Now' is a pretty good record.

I actually think the Clash's Cut the crap is more interesting and enjoyable that Give 'em enough rope. Years ahead of its time and has moments of genuinely genius avant-guard production.

My friends like/d Middle East and I thought they were atrocious. That wasn't very controversial though I don't think

I thought that was taken for granted.

Fuck yes. Some of the most misogynistic lyrics I've ever heard. And her samples sucked, too.
