thought i'd done this before, but it might of been in an m&n of alternate reality...
however...is there any ONE band that all we tastemakers, coolsies, wankers, pseudo-intellectuals, hangers-on, trainspotters, and other assorted m&n users can agree that are good? or even just tolerate without total hate outbreak?
initial contenders?: i would have said Eddy Current, but their backlash even has a thread of its own...
the philly jays? the drones?
discuss.

never heard anyone hate on the kinks.
in my experience the rolling stones seem to be the lowest common denominator.
it may well be a box of chocolates, 'vich - but most everyone would agree that chocolate almonds are good.
eww stones.
suppose i can tolerate them, though.
i think stones distaste would be widespread. particularly among the younger who only know them as a comedy cabaret.
there was a similar thread and i think the kinks did pretty well
i would've thought the saints would have done pretty well around here, but i seem to remember a little outbreak of sacred cow abuse a while ago
miles davis?
mozart.
Dude, really?!
bah, i don't like mozart!
how about the pixies?
bah, i don't like the pixies!
how about the cure?
if we found this mythical band we might as well shut up the internet and all go home.
bah, i don't like the cure!
how about mozart?
bah, i don't like the mozart!
how about Glenn Miller?
an excellent reason to keep looking
think of the productivity gains
bah, i don't like the productivity gains!
how about Glenn Miller?
There's always someone who disagrees at the end, though. I think that's what happened there.
Showpony. Where's his Bachian solemnity?
too many notes.
WYLD STALLION.
Now go home.

Jazz I can handle, but only when some white cat is in destruction mode.
Hip Hop and funk.. fucking woeful.
I'm going back to my corner now for a good old nigga hangin!!
So you're not into punk, rock, pop, reggae, ska, DIY or politically-motivated music Hellza?
Spot on.
This I like.
Hellzapoppin will never be swayed by the majority opinion. I think it's a matter of principle
I've met the majority, I wouldn't call what they offer in anyway an opinion.
dead to me now
I am yet to find a genre that doesn't have something in it that makes it all worthwhile.
Question: why is it always quite old bands people think of?
oh and how about Robert Wyatt?
Birdman?
seconded. but perhaps bizarrely i love the clash. although some of their more overtly reggae tracks were truly cod awful. but some would say that's my reverse racism at play...
too old, too obscure.
too old, too out of fashion. (but that's just this week - this may alter, already has a number of times in living memory...)
Yecch.
too out of fashion - birdman?
fuck me
i really have no idea what the fuck is going on anymore
to me birdman are the epitome of cool
i did say this week, mo. wait until there's a new strokes album or something with guitars, that someone will somehow make reference to the whole detroit thing again, and the wheel will spin once more...
ok so lemme get this straight
this week - new order = IN, detroit riffin rock n roll = OUT
?
from some of the shit i'm currently listening to, you're on the button.
although there's these odd outbreaks of banjo and mandolin from various places for variety...
oh i do like me some mandolin
this is apparently 'the new wave of folk'.
oh ffs
where's the tower, where's the gun, where's the tower, where's the gun,
where's the tower, where's the gun, where's the tower, where's the gun,
where's the tower, where's the gun, where's the tower, where's the gun
where's the tower, where's the gun, where's the tower, where's the gun,
where's the tower, where's the gun, where's the tower, where's the gun
please don't tell me you've just gotten into the tired old genre of folktronica (or whatever they're calling it this week). The newest example being a rather dull effort from Tuung.
