This 2004 PSF article is worth a read
RIP Alex.
So sad. I'm playing 'In Space' right now.
Shit. Everybody stop dying right now please.
Listening to #1 Record.
poor bastard. poor, poor bastard.
:(
heart goes out to his friends and family.
My dad went into Greville Records a few weeks back and said to Warrick the owner ''my daughter used to work here'' and Wazza said ''oh, little Bronny, she was obsessed with Alex Chilton''.
This makes me so fucking unbelievably sad.
Maybe we should reprise ''Thirteen'' in the Karaoke thread as tribute dickslap.
september gurls
thirteen
Terribly sad, particularly since he presumably had new material on the boil etc.., and way too young. #1 record is one of my all time faves. :(
YES. One of the greatest songs EVER.
And ditto, TR.
sister lovers and like flies are the best records of all time -- too bad only a handful of people will know this.
if luck went his way, he could've been bigger than rod stewart.

Hello … might have to come out of hibernation for this one.
Sucks about the oldies line-up.
Where's the youth representing?
True, no real young 'uns there. I also struggle to see a few of those artists as genuine Alex Chilton fans, but perhaps they actually are and I'm just being a judgmental cow.
Yeah, that old fart Jordie Lane. Must be, what, 23? Retire already!
Not the most exciting line up.
At least a couple of them are spunks, which adds a bit of excitement.
Exception that proves the rule, etc...
also, he was at least two years ahead of me at school, so he's AT LEAST 24/25! OLD! :D
joel silbersher.
was a real good night. kat spazzy best I reckon
Just heard from one of my buddy's in the Posies that Andy Hummel died of cancer a couple of days ago. Not a good year for the Big Star family.
Afraid it's so.
Bummer.
sad as it is, i really hate the india song.
poor big star.
Yeah, India Song is a bit of a problem, but how about Way Out West, filterfeed, HOW ABOUT WAY OUT WEST?
it's no daisy glaze, you know.
Ken Stringfellow?
Sad news about Andy.
sad.
And for the record I'd like to go to India
This is a sad year for Big Star fans. Does this mean Jody Stephens is the only remaining original member of the band?
yep. $5 he keeps the band going with those two posies fellas.
sad news
For the record I quite like The India Song.
