Cold Cave

I really really like them. I havent seen fan mail to any band for at least 15 years, but that's how much I like this band, begging them to tour Aus. I'm glad they're on Matador. Remote Control do their publicity in Aus and that's how I heard about them first. I'm a sucker for Love Comes Close.

jokes aside, I really hate this bands' synth sound (so weak!) and the 'gloomy' vocals. main dude used to be in a post hardcore band or something? remember reading a big backlash from his old fans somewhere. i think the dude that runs noise label hospital recordings helps out in this band sometimes too. he had loads of copies of the cc 12'' in his shop in nyc.

also fronted some girls which featured dudes from the locust.

i reckon the reason i dislike them is very similar to reason anok gives up the thread. it's the whole atmosphere of their music that puts me off.

I don't know of current trends in bands and their use of synth but anyhow this band is so distinct and organic in their new wave angle I can imagine them being the stronger bands on Urgh! It's a Music War or New Wave Theatre. Their sensitivity to the genre really shows. It's nice pop songs whatever. Also the instrumentals are pretty moody, it's like a band that gets Joy Division without being crass with droning noise and being ridicuously lo fi like Blank Dogs or Zola Jesus.

Everyone is alowed to make fun of me for that paragraph.

Oh and I forgot to write I can also imagine them on the Mighty Boosh.
