ah mutherfuck, I'll be O/S, shitbricks
I'd really like to see Tortoise but $68 seems a bit steep.
seeing as i have spoon the friday prior and 2 wilco shows leading up i doubt i can afford either.
Hope this doesn't sell out too quick. Won't be able to afford for a few weeks but man they blew my 18 year old mind seeing them at the Zoo in 05
The last show at the corner was a worthy outing. If I've the cash leading up to this I'll head on in. Though a Brokeback sideshow would be even more appreciated.
bizump
Man, the last time I saw Tortoise (at The Corner) I was bored shitless. It was like music for airports, but not in a good, Eno kinda way.
good comfy seats
and a nearby bar
that's what you want to see tortoise
i reckon the forum will provide 65% of that
and $68 is what i'd expect, bollocks
sigur ros was almost $100 and that was what? three years ago?
oh shoosh frankie, tortoise are rad. i already have a ticket and will be enjoying the good timez!
I'd pay $68 just to listen to those opening few mins of Seneca live again.
Sorry, I don't want to poo-poo stuff that people obviously like, but personally I just don't get it. Could be good for insomniacs though. Maybe bring a sleeping bag.
it's cool. it really is music nerd chill music so i can understand it's limited appeal. lucky im a music nerd who likes chilling.
frankie - the fact that you worry about it only makes me like you more :)
missed last time, but caught them at the POW in 2001? Might check this one out... if I have the cash also
think i've seen them every time. enjoyed them on every occasion.
J-j-j-j-j-j-j-j-aaaaazzzzz!
a friend of mine got the tnt man tattooed to his inner bicep on Saturday
ha! really? thats kinda awesome....
I saw them last time. All I remember is I was bored and the guitarist smoked on stage.

well. how fucking good was that? jaw dropping.
why do they decide to be so amazing now on the tour I miss cos I'm broke?! bastards
The painfully shite nature of the opening acts was an amazing juxxx. It made Tortoise just that much better.
Being in the Yeah Yeah Yeahs isn't an excuse to bore people to death with wank.
and ''noise''... a set of distorted feedback.. Challenging? yes. Art? I suppose. Fucking annoying when there's no pass-outs and thus no escape? Holy shit.
I enjoyed the openers :)
I am old and impatient.
Sydney show was great. Summary of the night's events in chronological order:
Black Widow: great, good to finally catch live (missed multiple times before, not on purpose, just due to uselessness). loved the moments you could physically feel. I love losing track of time with noise and drone stuff, it's like time doesn't exist while its happening.
Transition from Black Widow to Seth and Brian: awesome. based on this teaser I'd recommend melb folks check out the pony show.
Seth and Brian: great. brian does some really cool stuff.
Brian Chase: really nice guy.
Tortoise: way more energetic and dynamic than I expected. really great. looked like they were having fun too, two encores!
Chameleons: amazing. wow.
Crickets: fucking doomed
Certain types of squid: not romantic. seriously guys, not cool.
silly setlist
blew my mind! they still got it.
jimm. hilarious. squid romance. absolutely.
amp, if the ''bumping'' hypothesis is right more like squid bromance. totally failing to resist the temptation to anthromorphise but the ''dark depths of the ocean'' is clearly an excuse from boy squids in denial.
slightly more tortoise related, that setlist squares with a fair amount of what i remember hearing so i guess it's legit.
i'm trying to think of ways to explain how to enjoy noise without sounding like a total hippie and failing. you just have to let it wash over you. the bios for heaps of noise acts go on about it being an oppressive onslaught but really it's like being in the centre of a hurricane. the world is ending around you, but you're completely at peace.*
i understand noise. i own and very occasionally listen to merzbow. I enjoy Lou Reed's MMM. you've gotta be in the mood for it though. Judging by the number of people out on the balcony bitterly complaining compared to the number of people inside I think it was a poor choice of support.
again, friday in melbs was simply excellent
yeh back on track.
One thing that kept going through my head watching them was ''taste''. so Tasteful.
and handsome. they were all very handsome. especially john mcentire. yikes.
staunch as fuck
they deserved a much larger audience, but selfishly i was quite delighted that they played Manning. Brilliant layout, great sound.
Tortoise = fuck yeah! Been waiting a long time to see these guys play but damn was it worth it!
agreed, roast. while they certainly deserved a venue like city recital hall or one of the opera house rooms, i felt all kinds of elated to be able to see them up so close that my right ear went numb from the proximity to some crash cymbals.
So echoey at the Forum. Jeff Parker's face was priceless.
