2 Melbourne questions

Ghostface  said about 1 year ago  or at  12:23PM on Friday, March 12 2010 in chat

I'll be in Melbz next weekend to see The Pixies. I have 2 questions:

Do the cool kids still go to the Pony or Ding Dong Lounge? Where should I spend my time after the Sat night show?

This is pretty vague: I was in Melbz in early 2008 and went to this coffee joint just out of town. They roasted their beans in the same converted warehouse that the cafe is in. It was kinda rustic and the cafe looked like it was operating out of the garage. Maybe East Melbourne somewhere? Does anyone have the slightest idea what I'm talking about? It was hands down the best cup of coffee I ever had in my life. I would LOVE to find that place again.

C'mon chats, help a brother out.

The late night action is at The Old Bar, Johnston St, Fitzroy.

what about yah yah's. that's a good late night hang-out.

there's a coffee place like that in abbotsford. near the carlton brewery.

Tankerville is pretty cool.

Sounds like the second one could be auction rooms in north Melbourne?

The coffee place sounds like a place in Collingwood near the flats. Not sure if it's still there, though.

All the cool kids will be at this next Saturday, watching Duns play their epic new 9 minute 43 second song, ''Dale''.

But you'll miss that.

pony, cherry, yah yah's, old bar all viable late night venues.

Thrummmer  said about 1 year ago:

I think you might be talking about Seven Seeds - coffee wise, that is.

Ghostface  said about 1 year ago:

what time is Duns on? I have a boner for really long songs

I wish I could give more info about that coffee place. Warehouse where they roast their beans onsite... Best coffee ever. GAH. Damn me for having a severe hangover and comedown that day and not remembering anything

louis  said about 1 year ago:

melbourne clearly has a surfeit of places that sell excellent coffee in converted warehouse spaces.

louis  said about 1 year ago:

the only solution is to go to all the places mentioned in this thread.

Where were you staying? How did you get to this place?

Thrummmer  said about 1 year ago:

Seven Seeds, I tells ya....

MrsGideon  said about 1 year ago:

Seven seeds wasn't open in 2008... I don't think.

Project-Rabbit  said about 1 year ago:

My vote is St Ali

Thrummmer  said about 1 year ago:

Starbucks?

postergirl  said about 1 year ago:

I think it's St Ali too.

Ghostface  said about 1 year ago:

I checked out the website and I think it might be St. Ali. But Seven Seeds looks pretty good too, great graphics on the website. That's the problem with Sydney, not enough decent coffee places. Everyone goes on about Campos but I don't rate 'em that much

bebop  said about 1 year ago:

Not New York Tomato in Richmond?

Ding dongs is quite shite, Pony one needs to line up for 20 minutes.

anok  said about 1 year ago:
