I was at Roskilde festival in Denmark. Some Swedish dudes invited me and a mate back to their tent late at night for some beers and joints. We followed them to this giant army tent they had, I think they were all soldiers or something.

They then proceeded to speak only in Swedish, laughing and looking at us as we were confused. The vibe was generally one of 'you may be about to be sexually assaulted by some Swedish soldiers'

As they kept talking about us, one of them ducked into another tent and came back a few minutes later brandishing a handful of cable ties.

We thanked them for for plying us with drugs and alcohol and promptly left.

always handy on a construction site, re-useable too!

I love cable ties. I wish I could find more use for them.

Is it really necessary to have them on your bike helmet though? Are there really that many people getting swooped by birds?

timebomb's mx5 has had half the screws replaced with cable ties because it improves the power-to-weight ratio.

good for organising undulating stereo cable messes.

i used cable ties to hold my fuel line in place on my engine - months later it's still there. they're handy also at the farm when you need to tie something secure fast

My front number plate is being held by cable ties. Cable ties are holding my electric fan guard together. Also holding the rear light on my bike in place. Have used them a lot on oyster trays/baskets and crab traps.

I never travel without cable ties, they have now eclipsed gaffa tape as my 'do not leave home without' utility.

I'd trust a cable tie over some of the shit I used to jerry rig on my car.

I sometimes sit and wonder about the prehistoric life that over millions and millions of years ago died and eventually becoming the crude oil that is sucked out of the earth, shipped and trucked to a processing facility where it is then molded into the form of a plastic sporks, dildos or in this case a cable tie that would eventually hold together part of my home brewing rig.
