Do you like music? Perhaps you like to dance. Or just listen while standing around looking moody and enigmatic. Well, whatever your appreciation style, here's the event for you.
Marmalade Music Club DJs El Bastardo (Gimme Shelter, Blow Up) and Miss K (Cherry) love music. Love it! And they want to share it with you, yes you. Lots of lovely 60s & 70s pop, rock and soul, played with love for your dancing and/or listening pleasure.
We have a special treat in store this month: It's time to step up to the plate with your 70s appreciation so from 9pm we will be digging out the glam rock for a glitter-filled hour of bacofoil excess, followed by the groovy 60s tunes you love until late.
Only 5 smackas to get in, and with a new innovation this month: a cloak-check facility for all your bag/coat/umbrella-leaving needs.
We'd love to see you there!
El & K

(Hooray! The picture thing worked!)
(Star Trek nerd joke alert:)
Of course, Romulans bring their own de-cloaking device.
Bump for the day people.
We got an ad in Beat this month (page 51, in black and white like a 60s television set with The Go!! Show on it).
Plus I paid a visit to the parentals and picked up a box of 60s Australian 7'' singles that had been in storage at their place, so I'll have a lot of music to make selections from.
I really hope you can make it down, if you're interested. This is our 4th night and the previous 3 have been loads of fun. We're still basically going with word-of-mouth and putting our own posters and fliers in shops (Off The Hip. Greville, Polyester, Dixons, Missing Link, Northside and a couple of retro clothing places), hoping things will grow organically. Gimme Shelter was a good success benchmark and I think we're building towards that vibe. It's a bit of hard work, but the pay-off as a DJ is seeing the dancefloor fill to some song that YOU think is ace, and obviously other people do too.
(If The Pixies are reading this, we'll put your names on the door! Come after you've played show to unwind with a lemonade and some awesome tunes.)
