amiina

runoutgroove  said about 5 years ago  or at  4:41PM on Tuesday, November 14 2006 in music

I am in love with these girls. I just got their new 3 track EP, Seoul. If you caught their shows with Sigur Ros earlier in the year you'll recognise the tracks. Seoul features the wonderful musical saw and the track with the cool casio beats is on the disc too.

The copy I have looks like it has been screenprinted so I don't know how widely available it will be. I got mine from Sandbag

mcclap  said about 5 years ago:

They are awesome. Screaming Masterpiece at MIFF was also my intro. It turns up on e-bay a fair bit, picked it up new for under $20 including postage.

Enjoyed the ep I have a lot so can't wait to hear the album.

runoutgroove  said about 5 years ago:

runoutgroove  said about 5 years ago:

this new album is beautiful. Quiet, melodic and hypnotic. easily meets my reasonably high expectations.

I really want to hear this, runoutgroove! I'm listening to Sigur Ros right now, but thinking about Amiina.

runoutgroove  said about 5 years ago:

runoutgroove  said about 5 years ago:

the sleeve photo is actually a little dark but if you look closely, the funny thing is, Edda Rún (second from left) looks like she concentrating really really hard on the knitting. serious stuff.

runoutgroove  said about 5 years ago:

has it been a whole week? bump for amiina.

Hazard_Man  said about 5 years ago:

There's also a limited CD and 12" of the 'Seoul' single taken from the new album. I know for a fact that the 12"s are getting imported, but you may have trouble tracking down the CD version. FYI, Frakkur is Jonsi of Sigur Ros.

Also, had anyone posted anything on this? It's a free download of a live set they did on KEXP radio, Seattle >> http://aminamusic.com/news/2006/12/kexp_session_do.php

runoutgroove  said about 5 years ago:

thanks for that HM. still mulling over the purchase though...money is tight and i'm saving for the múm LP...

runoutgroove  said about 2 years ago:

Looks like Kurr is getting a vinyl release this month on One Little Indian link to norman records

New album!

jimmylimousine  said about 4 months ago:

the age says they're playing at the melbourne recital hall wednesday and thursday. anyone going?

tigers  said about 4 months ago:

I think the only 'normal' show is the Wednesday night, the Thursday one is a kids daytime show - Recital Hall

I'm pretty tempted to see them again.

untold/animals  said about 4 months ago:

How much is it? I keep forgetting to check. Can't really afford the time but have really wanted to see something like this at the MRC.

untold/animals  said about 4 months ago:

$45/55... has anyone seen them before? Worth it? Probably more than I can comfortably afford too.

GrantleyBuffalo  said about 4 months ago:

Would love to go. Can't.

Sadface.

anonymous  said about 4 months ago:

Recital Hall

It's recital centre!

they'll get angry, and you don't want to see those classical music types angry.

jimmylimousine  said about 4 months ago:

it's just a bit too expensive and badly timed for me, but it would of been nice to finally see them live. would have been better if they supported sigur ros too

redlips  said about 4 months ago:

well... the B-reserve price of $45 is pretty similar to Tuneyards last weekend at the Corner... and MRC has much better acoustics, and you'll be able to see a lot better. I think it's quite cheap for a 6 piece that has been flown from Iceland.

poprocks96  said about 4 months ago:

I'm pretty tempted to see them again.

I will go with you.

anonymous  said about 4 months ago:

GrantleyBuffalo  said about 4 months ago:

with fellow Icelandic minimalists Sigur Ros

Erm...

untold/animals  said about 4 months ago:

Definitely not griping about the price, I just can't afford it myself.

jimmylimousine  said about 4 months ago:

i should clarify that the ticket price is reasonable for them, but it's just that i have no money

redlips  said about 4 months ago:

fair enough then... tricky time of year for funds.

This is nearly sold out. I wouldn't risk a buy-on-the-door situation (unless you're a student and doing student rush)
